Holy moly Mini. I’m getting on board with ChickenLittle and 2busy, sending you all the positive thoughts and luck I can and hoping you find a job soon.

Thanks everyone. Some positive news with just a bit of woe-is-me.

I finally found a job (part-time), but it won’t even cover rent, and to pay for public transportation for the 1-hour long commute. But I need something, ASAP, things are running out the end of this month. I can try to supplement my income through other means, to at least get food, but this means I have to let go of my new gym that I finally found and love(d). But I’ll be biking some because I have to take it with me because the train doesn’t get me from home to job, end to end. Other half hasn’t found a job yet either, but at least he can get some money to cover his half of the rent.

I’m going to try to keep up my IT skills at least in the meantime too. Already some IT skills I picked up last year are already shifting, which is one of the reasons why I can’t find anything that fits. Even jobs I was overqualified for didn’t want me.

Glad to hear a little good news anyway. Just keep trying, somebody will figure out how awesome you are, and wonder how they ever made it without you.

Ok here’s a good example of blatant ageism with searching for work
“Undergraduate degree; 2015, 2016, AND 2017 grads highly preferred”

They were stupid enough to put in writing? Most places are smarter than that.

Yeah well it’s probably because a lot of them in this area HAVE gotten away with it. :rage:

Starting to try to stress less and take care of myself. I don’t know why or how I’ve wrapped up so much of my self-worth with having a stable job, or well not having one. It’s crazy and counterproductive.

So I’ve been looking at DIY weights. I would’ve thought that the landlords having 2 sons, who never throw anything away, would’ve had a few weights around from past days. I mean I’ve got a number of weights and exercise stuff still at my moms.

Anyway I’ve been doing some cycling on hills and some hip stretching yoga to counteract the cycling. Next thing I need to get to bed early enough to get enough sleep.

Still going through crap!! I have 2 more months before I’m in real trouble.

Anyway here’s another example of some ageisms…“working alongside a group of young, smart, and ambitious peers

Ok time to start a new log!!! I had a couple of bike accidents, the usual healing, etc

…but things a bit more routine in my life/home, other half got a position, although I’m spending so much time getting to and from this job (on the bike no less). I still need more money, so working on that, but food and rent are covered. Anyway went to the gym twice last week, just starting slowly. Taking a shower before work is really the biggest issue right now.

My legs are definitely more pumped from cycling up hills every work day though. Fat is covering it, but I can feel some muscle, so I have not been totally slack.

The bike accidents sound scary. Glad you are at least getting back on track.

I’m glad to see you’re posting again. But I’m not glad to see you’ve had a couple bike accidents. I’ve had two friends recently have bike accidents the required surgery. Both collar bone breaks and one with torn shoulder structures as well. That’s why I stay away from aerobic exercise. It’s just too dangerous.

Oof, nothing like that thankfully, I keep doing stuff to my left wrist though and you should’ve seen the bruises, I kept finding new ones and never seen anything so purple. But with my broke-butt I can’t afford a car at the moment. And usually going up hills, I’m really really really slow. No high velocity rides for me.

Yah and I caught the sniffles the other day after being drenched by rain. I thought cycling was supposed to be healthy for you :-/

Hills are the best training aid you can find

Yeah but they are so well hilly!

Ok so I’ve tried about 6-8 times to update my log over the last few weeks. I really don’t know if I’m coming or going, or what day it is. Was working 6 days a week and I finally crashed the other day.

I did go to the gym a few times when I felt better and when I had the time. Picked up a bar since forever. But still pretty beat up, and cycling up hills just takes so much out of me. I’m stopping the membership for now (no money anyway). Not happy with my decision but it’s for the best for now. I think, IDK, I have 3 more weeks before the next billing cycle.

Besides still need to do more rehab stuff that I can do at home. Need to dial in my diet too. Again though the hill cycling has really built up some muscle pump.

Ok I lied. My mother talked me into keeping the gym membership, you would think that she would offer to pay for it too.

Anyway so went twice last week, just before hormones interrupted me, and a stupid flat tire. Nothing to write home about…Just some sumo deads at 95lbs, empty bar push presses, and the lying leg curl machine. Don’t really go for machines much but always wanted one, and this gym has it. And of course cycling up hills.

This week was mentally tough though

Yay gym again. Just some more sumos (trying to get comfortable with these again), rowing machine, push presses & lunges.

So gym again yesterday, ha! Errr, did some weighted lunges, some core work, delt fly machine, assist pull-up machine. If this keeps up, I’ll have to come up with a training plan eventually, right now I’m just trying to get there.

And of course to end the day, cycling up freaking hills. Why is this not getting way easier for me??

Some guy was hogging the lying leg curl, so I might just do that today. But today I’m finally going in the jacuzzi, I have a massive head, neck and shoulder ache.

Ugh, stupid headache yesterday. Went on the elipitic trainer on very low to try to loosen up shoulders and back. Was able to do about 4 sets on the lying leg curl machine. Tried to do lunges but anything that increased my blood pressure, just made the headache worse. Was in the jacuzzi for awhile and then just had to lay down. Feeling better today but I’m running late.

Every time I try to log here, I get interrupted.

Ok did some sumos (oo la la 105lbs) Friday and some other stuff that I can’t remember now. My toes, hands, shoulder, etc still twinge at me from the bike accident, but it’s bearable.

My left side on the sumos is a lot weaker. I was searching for some tips, have not found basic ones though, some of them were suggesting using thick long bands, and hooking it up to something, anyway too complicated for me. So if anyone has any easy basic ideas I’m all ears.

Did some sumos, got complimented on my form, even though I can still feel the left side weaker. I’ve been pushing my left glute a bit more when I go up hills, to try to strength, not sure if that’ll help or not. Did some asst pull ups, push presses & bb lunges.

Today I worked with a trainer, who uses my yoga emphasis, but also did the basic asst pull-up, pushups & crunches. Would be good to work with him but I just don’t have the money, can’t even really afford the gym.

But I’m glad my mom talked me into staying there, never too old to listen to your mother
