Who Was Better: Eminem or Jay-Z?

They are both fading into obscurity already.

Nowadays, no matter what Jay-Z puts out, everyone is ooh’ing and ahh’ing without examining the material itself. I’m a big fan, but Kanye actually killed him on “We Run This Town.” How could that even happen?

Thank you. I’m glad someone else noticed this.

And yeah, Kanye did wreck him on that song, although Kanye has had a few killer guest verses this year (Clipse’s “Kinda Like A Big Deal” comes to mind).

Yeah, I’m fast becoming a big fan of Kanye. At first, I really didn’t dig his raps so much because of their simplicity. But as time went on, I realised the challenge of writing so economically while still telling a powerful and moving story. Out of currently active MC’s, few can touch Kanye on that. That’s where his genius lies: in delivering quality material that just about anyone can relate to.
Couldn’t agree more.
Are you serious? Half of his lyrics are rhyming the same word.

It’s obvious that you don’t listen to much Eminem or Jay-Z when you say that.

I’ve seen that freestyle many times and I’m standing by my word that nobody feestyles lol. That was so staged that’s like saying papoose’s a[phabetical slaughter was a freestyle. My man, its all rehearsed.

What? what retard thought that was a freestyle? I heard he told someone in an interview that it took him like two years to write that. Anyway, have you heard the rap olympics clips when Eminem was battling (I think) Rah Digga?

MMF?

Haha, one more thing; is it just me, or is Jigga biting Kanye’s style? Listen to him when he says “Yeah this is just violent, death of autotune, moment of silence.” - I don’t remember him using that growl before Kanye blew up. A few rhyming pattern similarities, too…

I noticed he was messing around with his flow and stuff, but I hadn’t noticed that until you pointed it out, but it’s very plausible. Kanye said that back when he was only producing songs he used to give rappers lines to use, but then he stopped when he started releasing his own stuff. However, seeing as how he is so closely involved with this particular album (to my knowledge he’s produced or collaborated on the production of all of the singles/leaked songs so far), I wouldn’t be shocked if he was feeding Jay some lines and hooks.
