I know you did not ask me but the Great Depression shaped much of our tax system.
Indirectly. It was FDR’s fucking New Deal that killed us. That and Social Security.
Without the Great Depression we would not have the New Deal and Social Security.
Arguable. FDR would have tried it no matter what.
On a slightly related note - why isn’t anyone bitching about the most punative of all taxes - S.E. tax?
FDR may have tried it but he would not have gotten much support without the Great Depression preceding it.
I would say that self employement taxes suck but they are not even that good!
You shouldn’t speak about stuff you don’t know the first thing about. About morality for instance.
One of my degrees is in Philosophy. I’d wager I know more about it than a blowhard like you.
Oh puhleese. I’ve read your whining posts about taxes.
You might have studied philosophy, you surely didn’t learn anything from it.
Ummm…you’re not an American so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt…saying ‘puhleese’ means you are on the homo-suspicion list.
What IS philosophy, Wreckless? How does it help us to decide right and wrong? What standards ARE there, in your little world, for deciding such things? Are you a moral relativist?

You’re not in a position to use these fancy words, because you haven’t mastered the basics about right and wrong, about fair and not-fair.
Didn’t you suggest in another thread that it would be unpatriotic to vote for a Democrat, because of the mess the US is in?
Please, entertain us with your whining about how much taxes you pay. And how unjust it is that some this money flows back to people who are needy. Lazy would be the word you use.
And how sad it is that not more is given to the big earners.
What will you say when you stand before your maker HH? I wan’t courages enough to steal from the poor and give to the rich, but I voted for the ones that did and cheered them on?

That’s pretty funny. You’ve found the right website to claim US cuisine is better than French and Belgium.
You guys have McDonalds and Burger Kings. I don’t know of any Horse meat chains from France hitting it big in the states.
But I could be wrong.
Other than waffles - what has Belgium contributed to the culinary world?

You might be surprised to learn that French cuisine, which is regarded the standard in European cooking, originated from Belgium.
I will be surprised if you learned anything, but that’s another topic.

It doesn’t “flow back” to them. They don’t pay the tax to begin with.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. The super rich don’t pay income tax because they don’t have income.
They own stock, they get dividend, they sell options. This type of income is verly lightly taxed when you compare it with wages.
They sail company yaughts, fly company jets and live in company housing.
They have modest wages and pay medium taxes on it. But their main income is not wages.
Why would somebody who makes $100 selling options be taxed less than somebody who makes $100 working for it.

Why should anyone pay taxes?
If “rich” people can avoid armed robbery and “poor” people can`t, does that make the “rich” less moral people?

So Belgium taught the French how to eat horse meat?
