Who Grows a Fruit/Veg Garden?

Green beans, beets, potatoes, sugar snap peas coming along.

I have some okra, squash, zuchini, carrots, swiss chard, onions and leeks up also.

I will put the tomatoes and peppers out this weekend and plant the rest. I was leery about the possibility of frost last night but thankfully it didn’t.

Looking great.
Hope you get a little late spring rain before it turns hot-hot.

I hope so too. That stupid wind is sucking out that nice 3/4 inch we got the other day. I think we have a good chance of rain of Friday. Hopefully without the hail!

Welcome to Montreal area :snowflake: after some nice near 20oC last week, today we have a whooping -2oC
Most of my garden is still in the house or not started yet.

Look at this, just look at it! Asshole! You wait till I catch it. :rage: It’s not like there aren’t acres of green shit to eat out in the pasture right now. Little bastard!

I saved what I could out of what “it” pulled up.

Picked some swiss chard to go with breakfast

So this is my first year growing chard, never had it before but read it’s fantastic … do you have recommendations on how to eat/cook it (recipes, dishes, etc)?

Also, your beets look great

IMO the best way to eat it is to cut when it’s young and put in in salad or in your protein shake in the blender.

I started growing it for the old guy that owned the tire shop here. He liked it when it got big like celery. I don’t. So there’s not too many rules. You just have ro figure out how youblike it.

Other than that you can cook it just like you would spinach or any other green with a little water and let it cook down.

Sautéed with bacon, onions, garlic and topped with parmesan is pretty decent.

Thanks! I pulled some of the beets last weekend and pickled them. Ended up with 3 1/2 quarts. You can actually cook the beet greens too. ( I didn’t, but my dad and granny always liked them)

I am starting a garden soon. Little late for some plants here in Florida but I have found a few that should work.

Going to grow to start
Seminole pumpkin
Swiss Shard
Chaya
Katuk
Lemongrass

This fall I will likely grow onions and Everglades cherry tomatoes too.

I had to google some of these. The chaya looks like something I would hoe up…
