Who Cuts Their Own Hair?

I burn my facial hair with lighter.

Oh, and I shave my head, too.

Women’s hair cuts tend to be expensive because you’re paying them to pretend to care about your life and pet you and they take an hour to do something that should take 5 minutes.

I do love when they wash your hair though. You guys should really experience that hairwashing by a woman treat at least once and you might switch from a barber to a salon

I cut my own hair too. I wear it messy and spiked so perfection is not necessary. Although about once a year I go a little scissor happy and have to endure a butch job for about a week before it grows back in.

I have serious anxiety issues when it comes to salons. I can never think of anything to say so it gets really awkward; small talk is not my bag. Plus, I have to take my glasses off when I sit there so I am completely blind. The entire experience is awful so I just avoid it.

A funny story though…I was getting my hair done for my wedding many years back. Now in order to set the stage, you have to understand that I was 6 months pregnant at the time [yes, yes it was]. Anyway, one of the stylists kept telling me what a big mistake getting married was and how I shouldn’t do it; over and over and over again. We finally had to talk to the owner because she wouldn’t stop.

I used to use a #1 on myself. Now I don’t use any of the guards, just the clipper itself to get it down to stubble and prep my head for shaving. then I bic it. depending on time constraints I will repeat the cycle every week to a few weeks. the only advice i would have for anyone is to feel around the back really well and/or have someone else check it out for you to make sure you didn’t miss any spots and that it is more or less uniform.

sometimes i don’t bic it. just the clipper w/o guards, get it down to stubble and then leave it that way. after bic’ing it it grows back in fast and creates stubble anyway within a few days.

after I buzzed my head the first time (hot , drunken July day) , I asked the girl who cut my hair up to that point how much for a quick buzz every 10 days or so . 18 buck was the answer…that about 60 bucks a month…wtf . dont think so .

Pavement, good weed music.

meh I love my barbershop. Plus I can get a nice scalp massage after my hair cut. Plus they use a nice sharp old school blade to clean up my neck line/around ears and it looks good for a long while. My hair is pretty suave right now and I already have these girls “trained” as to how I like it cut.

I just took the guides off and buzzed around the ears w/ the clippers tilted a bit. Not too shabby of a job, but I took a little notch out where I didn’t intend to. I screwed up the sideburns too.

I was checking out the clippers I got and they have a precision trimmer that flips out and onto the razor, for more surgical things, so next time I’ll use that. They had some some ear fade guards too, but they didn’t do the job to my satisfaction.

I may have a go at trying to take it shorter on the sides and in the back and fade it up a bit. I’m going to have a couple beers first, then see what happens. I’ll probably end up going into work on Monday with it buzzed short.

Youtube probably has some good tutorials on cutting your hair if you’re having trouble.

I cut my own bangs and my husband cuts the back of my hair. I wear a full straight bang and my hair is just long and straight. It’s amazing how many “professional” hair dressers can’t cut a goddamn straight line.

My Dad cut my hair growing up. I took over at 14, I pretty much keep it buzzed now that its thinning.

I shave my head myself, fairly easy. Once I start getting annoyed with the length, I shave it again.

I just shaved my head yesterday with a the bare clippers and had a friend do some of the back at the bottom. My hair was getting to the point where I had to wet it down in the morning. Last time I did an 1/8 inch all the way around on my own, back included. With yesterday’s haircut, I also shaved off my beard. Will be a shock when I show up to classes again with no facial hair/hair up top and in uniform. My clippers were only $10 at Marshall’s.

I can’t stand that small talk/chit chat either. I avoid it too. I can’t imagine how anyone would like it but a lot of women I know seem to love that whole song and dance and LOVE getting their hair, makeup, nails and feet done by these chatty salon ladies.

Look people, it’s just hair.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for years now. Using clippers, I have it short on the sides and back, with an inch to and inch and a half on top. After the clipper treatment, the top gets a few snips with a pair of thinning shears to take some volume away since I have unusually thick hair.

As far as the blend from the short sides to the longer top, I use the short guard at an angle to get a gradual blend from long to short.

I also cut my own hair with my brother, it is a big saving in money. I also think that the more your bench press go up, the more you become skilled to cut your own hair.

This is part of the reason why I ordered the clippers. I went to Best Cuts for a bit, and always ended up getting trimmed by a very obese chatty woman. She would be trying to have a conversation with me and all I could focus on was the feeling of her fat belly pushing up against my body while she cut my hair hair.

I could deal with the haircut, but the body-on-body contact ruined several otherwise enjoyable mornings.

hehe, nice to see someone knew the reference.

The longer my hair gets the more apparent my “receding hairline”/crazy widows peak gets. It’s been at the same state since I was about 17-ish(now 21), hence the quotations. So yeah, buzzing is the way to go.
