No, IQ tests are not based on ‘western education’ but educated in math and science you must be. Taking such a test to say the African savanna where folks are largely not educated in any classical matter certainly puts them at a disadvantaged because even if you use shapes, they are still not familiar with those shapes.
I don’t think this is a racist measure, just an archaic measure that does not completely measure one’s capabilities. It shows us where education is floundering and not taking root and where analytical skills are not necessarily taught or learned. From what I have heard from Gordon Murray, his intention was not to prove any race better than any other, but to show the skews in the data that he did find. It was others who decided this was a racist thing to do.
For instance, if you wanted to learn how to survive in the African savanna, would you rather have a Rhodes Scholar or a local tribesman who knows the area and knows how to keep away from lions and tigers and bears (oh my!)?
The tribesman may not know how to read “Tom Sawyer” but he damn sure knows how to read danger in his neck of the woods.
Or imagine being an American or British musician trained in the classical sense of western music and then having to learn Indian rhythm scales which are difficult to even roughly translate into something that looks similar to 9-1-2-1-2/8 time.
It’s natural for those who grew up in it, it’s outer-space for people who are used to 4/4 time.

Of course this is what they do. Companies want to see if you can do what the job needs you to do. They don’t give a fuck what your IQ score is. As far as I know colleges don’t ask for it on anything and neither do businesses. Maybe exceptions exist but they would be incredibly few. The vast majority of people never get an IQ test because it’s not a requirement for basically anything needed in life.
You’re asking someone who is likely unemployed about what companies do. It’s another grabbed out of his ass statement like humans kill more humans, violence will rise as the white majority dwindles.
