I’ve read quite a bit on race. As with another poster, you and I have clearly been exposed to different information and our understanding is completely different. That’s fine.

BrickHead is obviously not referring to race in the manner in which it may have been used colloquially by everyday people.
I haven’t exactly been following along here. So at the risk of being assumptive it seems to me that Brickhead is merely highlighting the obvious. There are different groups of people across the globe with unique morphologies distinct enough to separate them into their own classification.
This is something I mentioned a posted a good bit on earlier in this very thread.

The thing is, in spite of some poster thinking this is just semantics, it is important to understand the various ways race has been viewed. You mentioned the Scandinavians and the Poles; Hitler saw them as distinct races and we know the consequences of that way of viewing people. So we can’t just say this is my definition and that is yours; I’m right and you’re wrong. We have to accept that there are several ways of viewing and defining race and that one is not necessarily more valid or correct than another.

Race exists. Its a thing. Its a well documented thing with significant evidence.
Its not a this is my definition this is yours kinda thing. There are pronounced morphological differences between various geographical groups of people across the globe. Some happen to be better at math and chess. Others at long jump and sprinting.
It is a construct–a way we choose to organize information in the world. Further, while one could argue it has proven useful in certain contexts, a more compelling (IMO) argument could be made that it has done far more harm than good.
As are most things.
You are probably right but we are tribal by nature though so I don’t think things will change anytime soon.

In what text or speech did Hitler consider Poles and Scandinavians as anything but Aryan or white? Actually many high ranking Nazis had Polish last names and some German soldiers married or had relations with Slavic and Scandinavian and French women and weren’t punished at all. And if you read Mein Kamp he mentions a collective “white race”.
Considering someone different doesn’t lead to… as you said. And just because someone has a dim OR GOOD view on some people doesn’t mean they want to befriend or genuflect to them or harm and hate them.
That’s a misleading statement. Race as a construct is not on the same par as, say, species as a construct.
Perhaps things would change sooner if people who are aware of the destructive nature of the race construct didn’t tout it publicly as “a well documented thing with significant evidence.” Jes sayin’.
I think the blasting of Raj was uncalled for. Blasting a guy just because he believed race is a biological construct, as do I? Not good. I don’t recall him stating anything hateful and neither have I.
I would argue that it is literally the exact same thing. You just personally choose to not consider it on par.

I don’t care about the social implications of wether race exists or not. All I care about is the acknowledgement of the differences among groups of people who have historically resided in one geographic location or the other. This separation allowed varying degrees of differentiation regarding phenotype. If I am wrong on that then please let me know why.

This is what I’m on board with: the truth! I don’t care how people have taken the truth for their own motivations. I’m sick and tired of people skirting truths simply because of bad things that have happened in this world or because they cant stand the realities of this world.
You can argue that all you want, but you’ll find little to no support for your argument among mainstream biologists.

I perused the abstracts. If you think studies such as these put the race construct on firmer footing, either you’re wrong or I don’t understand your definition of race. (Speaking of, please do provide one.)

I have read Mein Kampf and the Nazis made exceptions for Eastern Europeans who looked Aryan. Once, a young boy who was either Jewish or a Slav, was going to be shot. Himmler saw that he looked Aryan and asked if he had any German ancestors. When the boy said no, Himmler told him there was nothing he could do for him and the boy was killed. The Nazis actually had a plan in place to take Aryan looking kids from the East and raise them as Germans.

I think society fixes things like Raj by publicly shaming it. I ain’t no snowflake.
