If all we white folks have to deal is being called, “cracker” after all the shit that has gone on, then I say we have no right to complain.
Spend some time in jail, where you’re the minority. See how much it sucks. Then multiply that times three hundred years and ten generations.
Along similar lines, I’d like to point out that I have it on good authority that your great grand uncle used to regularly beat and rob my great grand uncle back in the day. I despise you and your entire family for this and I have every right to - we are, after all, accountable for the sins of our fathers. So if I call you a goddamn heathen sonofabitch, you’d better just suck it up because YOU DESERVE IT for what your grandpappy…er… great grand uncle…whatever… did to my people.
You are both are complete fuckin morons. Descendants are in no way responsible for what their ancestors did. Accordingly, you have not suffered as a result of what your ancestors had done to them. We are all born our own person and now have the freedom to make ourselves what we choose. finally, Call me a heathen sonofabitch in person and see what happens to you
Here it is again with “you” instead of “u”. Now YOU can see that i am right and YOU are the fuckin moron, “sonofabitch”.
Sorry lad. I already explained why you’re wrong. No grammatical corrections can correct the basis of your argument, which is that the past is dead.
You are wrong.
I want to be included in this hate whitey cause he owned slaves bullshit arguement.
I live in Texas and I am white, I drive a truck and have tattoos. Do I get the stigma of being racist and does it make my family responsible for slavery and owning slaves, even though both sets of grand parents immigrated here from other countries in the early 1900’s?
Don’t associate the white man in general with slavery. Not every white man in American had anything to do with slavery. I know plenty of people who are white, and never had anything to do with slavery especially the ones from overseas.

Wrong.
Now if I were to respond in FI’s or PX’s vernacular I would say, “You dumbass, motherfuckin’ moron, you are so fuckin’ wrong.”
Anyway…back to the front…
Long before whites were doing any oppressing of blacks, the Asians, Arabs, AND blacks were oppressing blacks. In fact, they were extremely skilled at it. It was institionalized.
At 22 years of age and college educated (I assume) you should have known this.
Actually, come to think of it, if you’re recently college educated there’s a good chance you would NOT know this.
The white man - that is some white men - learned almost everything they needed to know about how to enslave black people from other black people. The facts are that black people were holding other black people in chains, or rather ropes, when they met the first white slave traders on the African coast several hundred years ago.
The despicable practice of slavery was, had been for several hundred years, and still is, deeply engrained in African and Arab culture. The white slave trader and his customers simply became a new, albeit vast, untapped market.
All of this doesn’t excuse the whites who participated in slavery through the centuries but the facts are the facts and foolish, inaccurate statements like the above FightingIrish quote need to be corrected in a debate like this one.
If you’re going to strut around with your feathers ruffled and you’re engaged in a debate that involves history then get your fuckin’ facts straight, you motherfuckin’-dumbass-moronic-assholic
-idiotic-jackass-dumbshit!
[Wow. So that’s how it feels to debate in the style of some who frequent this paradise corner of the world…Whew. I got goose bumps talkin’ tough on the internet like that]
I’m not talking about other cultures. I’m talking about America’s race problems right here, right now.
Whites were the slaveowners, blacks were the slaves. Slavery is as old as human history, of course, but the divide in America was along color lines, and this has not died.
You can pretend like it doesn’t matter, and that blacks should just get over it. What I see, however, is that the whites won’t let it go- rare is the person that is not racist, and I know lots of folks that are just regular white suburban types that use the word “nigger” like it’s going out of style.
In all seriousness, we are very different people. I think that whites are raised very differently, go through incredibly different things, react differently to many situations, and in general just act differently. Neither way of being is better or worse, they’re just different. I don’t know that this will or can ever change, but it comes from somewhere, and that somewhere is history. That’s all I’m trying to say.
Trying to say that the racial divide in this country is not related to slavery is bullshit.

I agree that it shouldn’t be like this. What I am saying that the blacks’ use of the word cracker or white boy is reactionary to years upon years of abuse from the end of the whites.
You’re not responsible for it, but you will get lumped in with it. Kind of like how whites think that every black kid from Paterson is a gangbanger.
You’ve got every right to be pissed if people try to sterotype you as a racist; I’m not arguing that.

and it dawned on me why is it that african americans can call caucasions white boy, cracker and shizzle fizzle (ok i added that last one in the hell of it) and it is seen as soccially acceptable. Yet if it was turned around it is a massive no no. I dont mean to incite a ‘insert’ colour pride thread I was just curious as to that dynamic in your American culture. In Australia we get called white dogs for the most part. I was wondering on peoples opinions on why that is?
Maybe because there’s a history of violent oppression against African-Americans that was led by White people in the U.S.
But all of the white(europeans, not americans) who did that are long dead or old and rotting. How come blacks never target africans? Certain africans enslaved other africans, and still do. Never see blacks and africans fighting about it…

You have made some good points on this thread, as a white guy I have not seen real racism directed at me, I have had a black clerk openly refuse to serve me until she served a black patron once or twice, but nothing that goes beyond irritating. Like many other folks, I feel that I do not owe a debt over what someone else did many years ago. I agree with your posts that there is a vicious cycle, but I fail to see how giving one group the right to say “cracker” is going to change that. Racism is never going to be stamped out, it is a concept as old as humanity, and unfortunately its in our nature. All of us have some racism in us, albeit very subtle for most, may not even be recognizable. The broader issue here is the vicious cycle, poverty, violence, and anger. Letting someone call me cracker is not going to do a thing to eradicate these things. The issue at hand is a lot broader than a double standard on what I can say vs what someone of a different race can say.

He could have been both. Jews in that time period came in all colors, from redheaded or blond to dark. Jews did not look cohesively Middle Eastern.
You have no idea what he looked like, but the point is that it doesn’t matter.
Who doesn’t know what he looked like? Rent the Passion of the Christ - he’s in it.

Dude, you need to open a history book once in a while and stop showing your ignorance. Whites were not the only race who owned slaves. There were also black slave owners as well. Look it up!
It is this kind of random accusation that causes so much racial shit in the fist place.
The PC version of life, as you spit it out, means that there always has to be one person or race to blame for everything, while all the other races are blameless. This kind of thinking is one reason that racism continues.
Accept the fact that racism is NOT a White problem. It is a problem for all races and more than one race was responsible for supporting slavery. Get a clue!

It wouldn’t bother me at all if it were true. But because it isn’t true and people just say that for political reasons or to demean Christianity it does bother me.
How telling that you regard the possibility, or even the mere suggestion, that Jesus was black as “demeaning” to Christianity.

Uhh, hello, he didn’t say that only white people owned slaves. In the context of this thread, they are the only relevant slaveowning race. There, happy? He has made some very good points that some are apparently too proud or thick to get. He has offered no justification for anything. He’s just given insights as to WHY.
Anyone who thinks racism causes no problems nowaday is living a sheltered life. If you happen to live in any of the old "Slave States" you'd realize this.
And racism only works one way, and that’s against anyone it’s directed at. Bigotry is bigotry, and stupid terms like “reverse-racism” should be discontinued. That is yet another term that implies that only whites are capable of being racist.

Wow… that was almost as dumb as someone mentioning their one black friend.
I once saw one black member of a country club and that means no one there was racist because they have their one “token”.

Do you watch BET at all? There has been more than one. I wasn’t aware I needed to find and list every name of every individual. The host for quite a while on their comedy show (must have been nearly two years or more) was white. Maybe this isn’t as much of an issue as people like you would wish it to be.

Gary Owen, former Host of BET comedy view.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Spanish bring the first slaves as well as enslave the natives first, before any Anglo?

“People like me?” What the hell does that mean?
You cite one example and that disproves all? Sorry to question your omnipotence. I forgot that only your experiences and perceptions are valid.
We were talking about the material the comedians used, not the host. What the hell does that matter? If a bunch of white comedians were saying hateful things about blacks would you care if the host was black?
BTW- The stuff on BET is funny, and I have never had a problem with it.
I watch a little BET, but most of it doesn’t appeal to me. The comedy is about all I do watch. Never really noticed the host was white… guess I must be slipping. “People like me” should be more aware of that kind of thing. Thanks for the label. Try not to bitch too much when someone puts one on you.
