Bullshit. How come Asians, who are supposedly also discriminated against, come here, learn the language and become quite wealthy? If anything reverse discrimination caters to blacks while discriminating against whites.

Isn’t it because they work their arses off and don’t have an ‘air of entitlement’ simply based on the geography of their birthplace? I thought that was the American dream.

Just a thought.

As for the previous stuff about comedians making jokes based on race.

When someone like Dave Chappelle cracks a joke about white people, it tends to be harmless and playful, and usually about the little differences between people. It hurts no-one.

However the vast majority of white comedians I have seen do material about black people or people of other ethnicities have based their humour on the supposition that their subject matter are somehow by nature inferior and so it is offensive.

In fact there is only one single joke about black people not told by a black guy I have heard in the last 20 years that wasn’t mean, spiteful or born of dislike rather than celebrating people’s differences. Oh, and that made me laugh too.

Hah… But like I’m gonna tell it here and forever damage my PC lefty image I seem to have cultivated…

As for being called ‘white boy’… I don’t see it any worse than calling my black mates ‘my brother’ - ie not bad at all.

Some drunk pseudo-yardie actually tried to upset me the other day at a bus stop by calling me a honky. It just made me laugh. Felt like I was in a blaxploitation movie. Any minute I was expecting to be referred to as ‘da man, always trying to put you down’.

Words only have power and upset you if you let them.

Of course there is a double standard here with racial jokes as there is with a double standard on race in general in America.

I also notice that low class blacks have been banished from sitcoms in general. Remember Sanford and Son? Now he has been replaced by the Cosby kids. When in reality, low class blacks should be fair game for ridicule, especially if “trailer trash” whites are.

There’s a difference between people making fun of their own and poking fun at someone else. If black producers made a show about ‘black trash’ then that is acceptable. For white producers to do it is a bit off…

BTW I’m a Brit and so using this framework to discuss the issue in a broader and not just US-centric way. I understand though that not as much of our comedy makes it across the pond as yours does.

I don’t think the Bible ever flat out said he was black. It also said he had “feet of bronze” did it not? And black people aren’t the only race\type of people that have “hair of wool.”

For all we know he could’ve been Arab or something similar, ethnically speaking.

Apocalypse is black too, just to let you know. Read my brother, read.
I know Apocalypse is black, he was also the first mutant, hence the name “En Sabah Nur” (The First One). I’m just saying we don’t know if Jesus was black in the truest sense of the word.

I have no real reply to you, but least we both know Apoc is black and there’s a strong chance Jesus was black.

One thing is clear regardless of this argument, he did not look like he is portraid in most iconic paintings if going by scripture.

About Jesus having “hair of wool” - I can say so do a lot of Jews. Some of whom are black, but by no means a majority.

Um, the Jews in question were disarmed, as were most citizens in Europe. It may not be apparent to you, but it is very difficult to wage a war against a full army without any guns.

Gun control at its finest.

Also, the Warsaw Ghetto held out longer than many nations. With a firearms arsenal estimated to be in the double digits. There was a group in Byelorussia (founded by Jewish farm boys) that formed a hidden Resistance town for twelve hundred people and “disappeared” many Nazis as well.

I’d like to know how that constitutes “not fighting back.”

Yes, it was terrible the way African-Americans were treated in the U.S. prior to 1970’s. But guess what? It’s 2006 and things are so much better now. Of course it’s hard for a person of ANY ethnicity who is born into poverty to rise out of that situation - but it’s been done many times. The U.S. is a great country full of opportunity for those who want it bad enough.

Just because my ancestors owned slaves doesn’t mean I should feel guilty or ashamed, because I am not racist and I treat all people with respect, as long as they respect me as well - regardless of their skin color.

Racism can go both ways. It’s definately not okay for an African-American (which, by the way, I think is a useless term - we’re all AMERICAN regardless of our skin) to call a white person a racist name, and vice versa. Our society needs to be more colorblind and just see people for the kind of person they are inside - not just a ‘white boy’ or a ‘black dude.’

I don’t mind being called a “Mick” or “potato head”, etc. because I’m Irish.

When I spent a lot of time in England, they call me the “colonist.” In China they called me “long nose.” Not a problem.

What I find really funny is the way blacks call each other “nigger” and other names in normal conversation but if I used the same names I would get shot and gutted. That’s kind of the reverse double standard. It doesn’t bother me but just seems strange.
You forgot…COAL CRACKER…(LOL)

I worked with a black guy in a predominately white occupation in the south, and this was the coolest guy I ever met. He didn’t associate with the other few black people that worked with us because he referred to them as niggas. He said thier outlook on life and thier demeanor classified them as lesser than him.

The funny thing is when ever anyone of the black guys would say someting like," what’s up my nigga?", he’d tell them he wasn’t thier nigga, he was my nigga.

He didn’t push the racial thing to any degree, he would call me his nigga, and I would call him my black honkey.

He had a better grasp on what people were really about, and wouldn’t take anything offensive.

He was also married to a white woman, and I asked him why one day, and the only thing he could say was he didn’t want to screw a useless nigga. Granted that was a poor choice of words on his part, but this man was very educated and didn’t fit the typical stereo type, his whole outlook on life was based on his travels and things he had done, not the color of skin.

WAS his name by chance…CLAYTON BIGSBY…???

LOL!

I think what he was trying to note was, the small resistance that did exist wasn’t enough to make a notable change in the whole resistance effort, not like France and England. Of course, it’s difficult when a race doesn’t necessarily fight as an organized entity, has no resources, and is spread about the middle east.

You are a dork! Jesus wasn’t black he was Jewish, from the line of David. So he probably looks very Middle Eastern.

lol… I now officially have a 2nd favourite quote from T-Nation!

The first being ‘My uncle does Tai Kwan Do. He also takes dick from shemales’. Forgot who wrote it but it was genius.

1-packlondoner, that joke sucked…Brits have the worst sense of humor, I hate Mr. Bean.

This thread should have been an abortion, I don’t know where all this b.s. came from, from both sides.

Justifying any racist acts because of the actions of our forefathers is ridiculous, and the basis for most racism to begin with.

Deal with situations on a case by case basis, judging someone before hand based on prior events will only feed the problem that permeates so many aspects of our lives.

I truly do not believe racism will be solved. Maybe in a few thousand years when we all look, act, and think the same way.

Call me white boy and I guarantee we will be throwing down.
