Picked up a half decent spin bike on marketplace…now I can add that into the mix for my training.

Thursday - 30 min bike workout
Kept it really simple…during the course of 30 min i went back and forth in intensities…I’d bring up the tension and do a hard push for a few min, then back it off for a few. Nothing too crazy or anything but it was definitely effective

Sunday 30 min moderate intensity bike session
My plan for today (Monday) is to get a good back/bicep workout in. I’ll record that later.
Mentally I haven’t been in the best space the last couple weeks but it is what it is. I like the phrase that Seth feroce says…”I don’t have problems, I just have more work to do”. To me that means I need to keep grinding and pushing forward in life. Things will eventually be sorted out. But giving in to the anxiety issues? That’s not gonna be helpful. So…keep working. Keep pushing.

What a week. My son wound up in the hospital on Wednesday…he randomly collapsed and was unresponsive but breathing for a couple of minutes…by the time I got to where he was (he was at the store with his mom) he had come too but he was out of it. The emts arrived shortly after I did and by the time my son was checked out and everything he seemed fine and his vitals were good, so we decided we would just take him to his regular doctor. But then not even 5 min after the emts left, he collapsed again and it was the same thing as the first time. So we rushed him to the er and spent the night in pediatrics. They ran him through several tests, still don’t know exactly the cause but we have a follow up next week. He’s been released from the hospital and he’s back to his usual self, which is good…but damn that was not fun

Not hitting like. sorry to read this.
best wishes for your family
That’s a possibility. Epilepsy is something in my family, although I don’t have it. Yesterday afternoon he had a scan that pertains to that, so once we have the follow up we’ll see what they say.
When my son had his first one we went to the hospital and he had four more that night. It’s scary, but it is managable.
He’s had two more since then, but we’ve been really attentive to how sleep and heat affect him and that’s been key.
Also, butt valium is a thing to keep on hand.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice.
Sending lots of hugs and prayers for your son, you and your family. I hope you get answers and it all ends up just being a weird, unexplainable blip that never happens again.

Saturday - team lift with the other supplement world ambassadors for our location. I did a really good chest and tricep workout while getting to know some of the other ambassadors including the main guy who runs the store. I think the highlight for me personally was the plate loaded standing chest press where I managed to get a solid 305 for 7. First time I have ever used that machine and I really liked it. I also found that I really liked the overhead tricep that apparently doesn’t get used very much. As good as the workout was, bullshitting and talking training with the other ambassadors was great and I think I needed that. Sometimes I feel like I’m getting to be too much of a loner when I don’t have my son with me. Anyways…after work today I’ll be hitting legs.

Sunday - legs at iron nation
Seemed like there was a few of us all hitting legs at the same time, so I had to alter my plan a tad. For example I wanted to end hamstrings with standing curls, but I had to start instead. All good though. Anyways…standing hams 3x12, pendulum squat 3x8, hip press 4x5, Nordic curls 2x8 and then on my third set I failed at rep 5 (that whole set was tough), leg extensions 4x10, seated ham curls 3x10.

I had planned on stopping in at iron nation last night, but my ex wife asked me if I could take our son a day early. Of course I said yes…so…now I’m gonna be back to training at home until next week when he goes back to his moms. I’ll have to get in a back/pulling session of some kind tonight at home to stay on track where I need to be. I will say this…having access to the machines available at iron nation is pretty cool. My quads still have a slight soreness to them…4 days later lol…but mostly recovered and my chest and triceps also had taken a few days to recover too. I can get in some good hard training at home don’t get me wrong…but having some of the machines that I.N. has is gonna be interesting for sure. I discovered that they have a reverse hyper too…no gym that I have ever gone to has had one so I’ll definitely need to try that one out. I also discovered they have a transformer bar, a football bar, and a trap bar too. Lots of toys there to get bigger and stronger. But…the basics still rule. At home I can bench, squat, ohp, row, rdl, good morning, and so on…many options even with my set up and as basic as it might be, it absolutely works. It’s just a matter of putting in the work.

Monday…chest and triceps
Warmed up with 100 band pull aparts, and then into 3 sets of incline bench. On the last set I did a drop set. Then it was onto dips for 4 sets. Nothing fancy. After than I decided to try something that I haven’t really done before…flys but with my bodyweight as resistance instead of weights. To be honest, I really liked this and it felt good. Definitely some room to grow on it and get stronger with it. Then into good old Tate presses…one of my favourites for triceps. Finished with pushups and ab wheel.
Decent little workout…nothing spectacular or crazy…just putting in work. My son goes back to his moms on Thursday so in a few more days I’ll return to iron nation. Speaking of my son…we don’t have a clear answer from the doctor in regards to what caused his episodes a few weeks ago, but there’s definitely some strong potential that he could have some sort of seizure issue. We have to keep monitoring him for now. That stuff does run on my dads side of the family…my dad has epilepsy and one of his brothers and one of his sisters both had seizures when they were kids…but they grew out of it. Time will tell.

Back biceps and grip at iron nation
Started things off with some face pulls and seated cable rows to get things started. Moved on to a lat pull down after and then into a chest supported row. Went nice and heavy on it, and had a couple high schoolers watch lol. Went onto another lat pulldown after for a couple sets…this machine has a different line of pull, more of an angular line of pull instead of straight up and down if that makes sense. Did the upper back machine for a couple sets because big traps are cool and then pullovers and some weighted back extensions. Cable curls came next, followed by dumbbell curls and then finally some light preachers going to failure. Finished the whole thing off with some grip work on the grip station they have. It was a real good workout overall…and then post workout I had home made sweet potato fries and some lean hamburger that I made into a “steak”.

Friday pm Legs at iron nation
Started off with light seated hamstring curls to warm up and get ready and then went over to the hack squat. I haven’t had the chance to use this one yet since starting at IN…gotta say I really liked it. I’ve done hacks in the past of course but this one feels phenomenal. I guess that’s what happens when the guy who runs the gym is a competitive bodybuilder and picks all the machines himself lol. After getting some heavier sets in I did one lighter higher rep set. Then I moved over to the hip press…I used this machine last time and I really dig it and I went a little heavier than last time. Followed a similar protocol to the hacks…worked up to a couple heavier sets and then did a lighter higher rep set rep set. After that I gave my quads a break and went to the standing hamstring curl…at this point the gym was very busy. I was gonna do 3 working sets here but I wound up doing four because I was waiting to get over to the leg extension. After leg extension I wanted to finish off my hamstrings, but like I said it was busy so instead of doing what I wanted to do (nordics…I guess I could have asked to work in but
) I went back to the seated hamstrings for a couple more sets. After all that I decided to pull a John meadows and I finished off with walking lunges. I used the turf area and went down and back a couple times.
