Whey Allergy - What are My Options?

Your body should digest it all the same. See if we can pull in Dr. Lowery on this. He is like a protein genius and might have some really helpful stuff for you.
No offense to anyone who has posted so far but we havent heard from any of the big names yet.

Just think about it this way: You can try watered down protein and drinking it over a longer period of time. Try for 1-2 weeks. If it lessons the effects of your allergies, keeps you strong, and makes your life happier then stick with it.

Im gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that your reaction is from one of the additives in the brand you’re using. Consider trying another one, maybe one with less colorants perhaps?

Dont force your way through a protein diet with cortisone. Very bad idea.

Btw, maybe you should reconsider being vegetarian. Unless its coming from strong ethical or religious grounds, there is very little basis for it.

okay so - when i said i get almost all my protein from lentils what i meant was:
if i’m deliberately adding protein to my diet i tend to use lentils/beans/legumes
but i also add egg whites
[/quote]
So you are ok to eat eggs? case solved, no?
i’m pretty sure you can buy egg protein powder too.

dude i live in malaysia… our selection of protein here is confined and dictated by what ever GNC brings in. They don’t carry egg protein powder. I’ve seen it once before though at a baking store but there was no nutritional value content on the bag and the bag was tiny.

(I’m a vegetarian for strong ethical reasons.)

I think that you might be right about being alleric to one of the additives.

so starting tomorrow i am going to water down my protein and drink it through out the day because i have noticed that the reaction is immeadiate and then kind of subsides after a few hours…

will update you soon!

You may be restricted to GNC as a walk-in store but you clearly have access to internet…can’t you make purchases online and have them shipped to you??

the shipping adds up after a while…
sigh

no worries - i will try this protein sipping thing and see how i get along.

good to hear. Keep us updated!

Knowing the prices at GNC, if you order enough I wouldn’t be surprised if you saved money in the long run.
