no problem the winner buys the steak and beer, let me know when you are in northern cali, but not to put qa guilt trip on you, if i take even a minor trauma to my neck now, i probably will be paralyzed. lol
( i recently have had right arm weakness and numbness issues, turns out i have 3 cervical discs pressing and flattening my central and ventral spinal cord)
don’t you feel sorry for me now?
Your cervix is pressing against your spinal cord? how does that work?
Just slap yourself.
Heavy, I didn’t know you were that short. And I gather you are in the medical field. What exactly do you do?
Sorry to hijack, Audio.
i am an advance practice rn in the ed OF A a busy regional trauma center
Heavy in Cali do you have to have your masters for advance practice?
Ever think about getting out of the ER?
i can do things like intubation, starting IO’s, PICCS, staple wound closure, needle tracheotomy, external jugular iv’s, chest tube insertion, etc., because I have many advanced certifications, like pre hospital advanced life support, mobile field intensive care, stuff like that.
so no i do not need a masters, but it is very institution specific out here, one hospital may let the nurses do certain things, others wont.
no i do not want to leave the ed, i love my job, but several of the doctors there have been on me to go back to school and become a PA.
Yes a bunch of my Doc friends wanted me to do the same thing PA school was out of the question due to my life situation. However getting my Masters in Nursing to be equal to a PA was doable.
Just wondering been meaning to ask you, I hope to have some job sites in Cali in the years to come.
no problem! will help if I can.
ya, situational wise the PA thing is not for me. First I support 2 households with my income, plus I spend about 8-10 grand a year traveling back to Alabama to see my kids, so I cant really afford to quit working all the overtime I work now to go back to school.
second, I really am not a good student. not very disciplined, poor study habits, there is a reason I dropped out of graduate school and decided to become a trades-person, lol
third, I am at the top of the pay scale here where I work, and nurses make pretty good money in northern cali, with PA’s starting at about 90 thousand a year around here, that would be a very significant pay cut to have to suffer for several years, and I am 44 years old, no spring chicken.
I just paid my last child support payment for my daughter last month, I understand about two households. Plus I married a RN who also got her APN like me, so I have a leg up in that regards.
You dont seem burnt out about ED like I was so some people are made for that, I had the love/hate thing with ED.
