All is dandy? No, I don’t think anyone made such an argument. There are still terrorists scheduled for a meeting with the US military. Or hey, even the improving, and increasingly independent, Iraqi military. They rescued a number of those recently kidnapped Sheiks, apparently on their own.
More and more Lixy, it appears the “resistance” is losing steam and just plain losing. The coalition, Iraqi Security forces, the fairly new US/Iraqi civilian alliances, and the elected Iraqi government are all seeing some big results. At some point, US troops will turn over the last province to Iraqi forces to patrol. It still won’t be dandy then either.
But, the enemy won’t be able to walk over them, throw down the elected government, and set up some Islamic totalitarian regime based on the fancies of one sect.
Those lazy shits don’t want to work for a living. We know our State Department sucks. It is loaded with assholes that want to live the good life while not doing hard work in America’s best interest.

Hundreds of US diplomats have protested against a government move to force them to accept postings in war-torn Iraq.
About 300 angry diplomats attended a meeting at the state department, at which one labelled the decision a “potential death sentence”.

I think the next headline should read "Hundreds of diplomats fired at the state deptartment, at which one lamented “My poli-sci degree is usless outside of the government!”.
