When I saw my avatar.
I met Frank Zane some where around 1982 or 1983 in Boardman Ohio
You lucky SOB. What was he like?
He was about was about 6 foot tall, was not huge, but he was large. I think what impressed me most was he was extremely cut and very limber and fluid in movement
And my friends wonder why I’d rather look like him than Coleman or Ruhl.[/quote]
Oh man, seriously who wants to look like Ruhl? Kudos to him for being huge and fuck but… ugh… no
8th grade summer heading into High School football. All I did was squat, bench, and curl for like the first 2 years. Had like a 265-270 bench junior/senior year. Fell in love with the weights because I was doing it everyday and loved being one of the stronger guys in the weight room. Got out of High School and dropped 40 pounds of football flub and muscle the stupid way. Held 165 at like 7% for a year and a half but looked flat. Decided to get as big and strong as possible as I could last June, gained 40 pounds to a peak of about 208 last month and now cutting for my first show in July. Also want that 405 bench, 600 Deadlift and like a 450 squat by next March.
Stumbled across T-Nation, was fascinated that you actually can be big and ripped (as opposed to skinny and… skinny). Didn’t go to bed that night, just read several years worth of articles.
Went from an anorectic 6’4, 120lbs
to 6’5 and 185lbs in one and a half years. Sorted out a lot of my problems along the way, as well!
8th Grade football. I started to drift here and there especially in 11th grade and some shady days of 10th but I always coem running back. I am Irons,Bitch.
I watched an episode of Batman where he was bench pressing. I was trying to find the picture online. Googled something along the lines of Batman + Weight lifting, and somehow ended up at T-Nation. Started devouring Atomic Dogs, and came out of it a new person.
By the way, I figure I’d throw in how I found T-Nation:
I was searching online for weight training articles and ran into a page with about five of them. This was back when T-Nation was Testosterone.
After reading them all - and thinking they kicked ass - I figured that those were all the site offered (seemed that way for every other site I looked at that day).
Then I discovered that was just one issue’s worth and there were years of archives…
I found this site when I googled ‘Testosterone’. Then I discovered that the articles on this site didn’t seem as “u gain 16 inches in ur gunz wit our workouuttz!!!” as most of the other sites. The articles explained things, and showed me how it worked, so I stayed.
