What's Your Political Party?

The new thread titled “Democrats for Bush” led me to wonder what political party T-nationers affiliate themselves with.

Let’s keep this thread simple - just state which party you consider yourself to be affiliated with. Please don’t call into question people’s responses or start arguments, etc., as that is better suited for another thread. Thanks.

Democrat (though I don’t vote on party lines)

Republican, in general.

Tough to say. I guess I’m on the fence since I vote 50% republican and 50% democrat.

I’ve been a registered independent my whole life, but I’ve been thinking about registering Democrat (in NYS. it works for the next election) to assuage the reservations I’m going to have when I vote for Bush (gay marriage amendment, some issues of transparency, Ashcroft’s bent focus, etc.).

I guess I do see myself more as a Democrat after all, but I’m hoping that in 2008, the Democrats won’t nominate the likes of Kerry or Dean.

Republican

I have no party, and I typically don’t vote. When there is a politician who I believe will do something positive, then I vote for them regardless of party.

Democrat, although I will vote otherwise in some cases (especially state and local elections).

“when i vote, which i don’t, but even when i think about who i would vote for i don’t even look at their political policies, i just look at their character. you’ve gotta read between the lines”

-dave chappelle

me too

I am republican (even though I’m writing this from a coffee shop) and vote down party lines.

I am conservative with libertarian tendencies which puts me at odds with my voting records, but I prefer that choice to the democratic agenda.

Usually, Republican. Not always. 70% of time.

Republican, with a Liberterian view. But very disenchanted with the people we have to choose among.May just skip th ewhole voting deal this time round.

Since I am military and national defense has to be the priority these days…I vote for whomever is going to do the most to strengthen the military. For example, I would vote Republican for president right now and vote Democrat for someone like Zell Miller of Georgia since this is my place of residence.

Registered Republican but I vote the issues and am nearly 100% Centrist in my beliefs. FAWK Partisan Politics!!!

Registered Elephant.

I think of myself as a moderate Republican. But Based on my voting records, I’m pretty much a swing voter that can go both ways.

I voted for Bush SR, whom I still think was a good president. Then voted for Clinton, because at the time our economy was good and why rock the boat.

Then I voted for Bush JR, whom I’m not very happy with right now. But I still think he?s doing a better job then Al Gore could have.

I’m going to see how Bush do right up to Election Day. If the state of our country improver, then I’ll vote for Bush. If not, then it’s the lesser of two evils, which means Kerry.

The military and national defense are not the same thing. There are other ways to protect the homeland than with an Abrams tank. Just because a candidate is going to spend alot of $$$ on the military doesn’t mean that we are any safer than we were three years ago. I believe that we could be much safer with half of the budget we give our military (more emphasis on intel, special forces, less emphasis on outdated weapons i.e. tanks, artillery etc.)

RightSideUp,

As you well know, I am a proud moderate. Going to vote for George W. Would have liked a viable alternative to spark discussion

chrisr,

“I believe that we could be much safer with half of the budget we give our military (more emphasis on intel, special forces, less emphasis on outdated weapons i.e. tanks,”

Kerry voted to slash the intel budget 1.5 billion dollars in 1995. This was two years after the first World Trade Center Budget. Please see the myriad of weapon systems he has voted against.

Would be curious to see if you will vote for Kerry anyway.

Chrisr…that is a good point. National defense and the military are not necessarily the same thing. I am for both being strong. A strong…powerful and compensated military that carries a big stick for deterrance and a competent and effective CIA to gather intel. Both things John “F-in” Kerry wanted to gut. I think he should stick to televangelism…after his comments this past weekend and his big hair…he is perfect for it!

Just state the party people!!!

Chrisr -
Outdated weapons such as tanks and artillery??? Holy shit. That has to be the dumbest fucking thing I heard all day. The last I saw, the tanks and artillery were a major factor in the latest Gulf War. Don’t argue, I was there.
