What's Too Frequent?

I’m planning my first cycle and further cycles. I plan on starting with 300mg test for 10 weeks and possibly adding Var for the last 6 weeks.
If I took 12 weeks off between cycles, can I just keep doing this, cycle after cycle, or do you need a longer break at some point?
I know bloods will be the only way to tell for sure how my body reacts but is it crazy to do 10 on and 12 off continuously or is that normal?

I will offer my experiences, but I should add some distinctions that you should consider. A big distinction is that you are starting to cycle several years after I stopped cycling. And I cycled AAS for almost 3 decades. Another large distinction is that I was cycling AAS when almost all knowledge was “bro science.” Though in many cases bro science yielded great results, we were using lower doses, but did no blood tests.

I will start by saying that I only took AAS to improve my physique for bodybuilding contests which I competed for 3 decades.

  • All of my AAS cycles were generally 8 weeks long and every cycle I did included orals the entire cycle.
  • My “off cycle” duration was between 6 and 8 weeks.
  • Once I began doing well in competition, I chose one contest each year to be the one I wanted to do well (e.g., 1979 Jr USA) I would do a 12 week cycle. It was followed with 8 weeks “off cycle.”

Essentially, I was “on cycle” a little more than I was “off cycle.” But I was much younger than you are. Never took a blood test (not that I believe that was a good choice, though I don’t know what good that would have been because I have very low cholesterol. Please consider what doctors were looking for in blood tests a few decades ago.)

You can do it as long as your health holds up (if you care) and as long as your goals require you to. Pretty simple.

Time on and time off is individual. 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, whatever you need to get healthy. And again, your goals will (or should) dictate your cycle schedule. You’re on and off for as long as you need to be.
