Did you ever used to club at “Giant” or “Spundai” back in the day?

Hadn’t been there since '02, don’t even know if it’s still around.

X
Acid
Weed
Fistfulls of Rx stuff
Booze

X use was 1-2 times a month for a little over a year and then one night, while rolling, I sat in a chair and said “yeah this is the last time, not much fun anymore.” Haven’t touched it since.

Acid was a one time deal when we couldn’t get X. Hated it, never went back to it.

Herb use is strictly for those nights where it’s all about the couch, some TV and ice cream. Few and far between, not entirely necessary, but always a good time when I partake.

The Rx stuff was pure experimentation, even gave myself shots of phenegran and toradol at certain points in my life, but the one that got me was Percocet. I had my knee rebuilt in 2003 and was perscribed Percocet for post-procedure pain, and for pain prevention before physical therapy sessions. Once that scrip ran out I immediately began drinking heavily. Drinking a lot of wine replicated percocet enough for me to get by, and I got drunk on cheap wine nearly every day for over a year. So, I don’t ask for pain meds anymore. Pain management begins and ends with NSAIDS and rest. I’m not willing to risk any sort of drug abuse like that again because feeling out of control and “dependent” sucks.

For those who are climbing on a soap box or a high horse asking “why is this topic being discussed on a fittness site,” please consider this:

This lifestyle is outside the norm, some might even call it risky, dangerous, and unnecessary. Limits get pushed and experiments on our bodies are performed almost daily. It’s not outside our realm of consideration to partake in a drug just to see what it does, to see if it makes us better. Striving to be the best you can be personally can definitely include using drugs. Can you party hard and still handle your business? Well then you’re more, you’re better. Leaving the weak in our wake is something that gets us off. I personally am of those guys who gets off on being a front runner in everything I do, and for a time that included partying right along with work, training goals, fucking, all of it.

Thankfully I matured and re-organized my priorities, putting my health and mental well being above the partying and notches on the bed post, but everyone is on their own schedule. Am I appalled by some of the replies on this thread as far as drug use goes? No, because I’ve lived it myself to a degree. Mad-Dog Bell from Bigger Stronger Faster isn’t some sort of rare anomaly, it happens to all kinds of guys, often times without even knowing it.

For the kids who read this site (teenagers, early 20’s, etc,) please don’t interpret this post as an advocation or some sort of adult permission to use drugs. There’s at least a couple of years out of my 35 that are blurry, sloppy, and upside down thanks to me not being in control of myself in part to drug/alcohol abuse. Once you’re grown enough to make your own decisions and be accountable for your actions you do whatever the hell you see fit, but ensure that you’re aware of ramifications and consequences. That’s all.

I was very heavily into all drugs up until a few months ago when i went to jail. Doing it ruined my life, I stole from family, and committed strong arm robbery and armed robbery several times while living in my car for 5 months.

Ive done just about everything, but i shot coc and oxys and roxys, as well as blasting(crac). I smoked weed about everyday but it was really just like drinking water…something u just do. Once i got outta jail i was able to live back in my house under the condition that i go to NA, and its about saved me.

While im sure i will smoke weed again and drink every once in a while, ill never do any of the shit i did b4.

Ive taken shrooms, acid, xanax, xtc, methadome, morphine, and obviously the above.

It all started out with bud, and i could get the best of the best, i sold the majority of these drugs at one time or another…but please i suggest no one do anything aside from smoke weed on a day to day basis lest u end up in the position i was in…being in jail for 45 days is no fun

And all this b4 i turned 19 y.o., I miss it at times, but the only thing i have to do is think about the bad times and it subsides

Great fucking post.

At least the script opiates only led to alcohol abuse. Sure beats the hell outta smack. I had the same issue with vicodin and also percs when my hip was being fixed. The shit scares me to death now.
