What would you have done?

Looking bad i think if it is cash that you find its yours for the taking. If its a credit card, wallet, check book, etc., you should turn it in. If you lose cash, you are sol.

Once while leaving the gym after a late session, I found a $20 on the floor (in the lobby).

Did I take it? Hell, yeah.

I commend thee on such honesty in reporting your find. Truly.

Ever wonder why it was there?

Celtic = luck o’ the Irish? Maybe you should have kept it!

Maybe some kind of sneaky way to make a payoff for something illegal (drugs, prostitution, gambling) and you intervened. Think about it, who is gonna be looking at a library to bust some kind of illegal ring?!?!? Now the guys is gonna have some broken legs or go swimming with the fish.

Keep it, don’t keep it…I think it goes either way. I am more interested in figuring out why it was there in the first place…it is such an odd thing.

i consider my self moral and honest almost to a fault, but my rents 4 bills and i’m broke as a fuckin joke.
figure that one out

I agree with Nate and Goldberg, keep the cash Karma shmarma, maybe because you did something good you found 400 dollars and were supposed to keep it?! He could have left it there as a drop off for some cocaine or something so to hell with the person who lost his money in a weird ass celtic book.

Seems a weird ass place to stash 400 bucks. Shit I think I would have taken it, just because it was in a strange place. Good for you though, just don’t kick yourself in the ass because you probably won’t see it again. I’m an accusing bastard so I’m betting the librarian will say relatively soon that someone claimed it, then look for a new hair cut and some shoes cuz she’s going to take it.

By the way, you can consider it good karma if you end up getting the money back if no one claims it. If you’re worried about karma or some other superstition, you may have just missed your chance to have an extra $400!

Well, the librarian called me today to tell me that the money did belong to the person that had checked it out last. It was a seventy-five year old man that had apparantly misplaced the money in the book after coming home from the bank close to two years ago.

Here’s the good news…

The man is fairly wealthy and according to him, really didn’t even miss the money. He said that I could keep half of the cash as long as I donated the other half to the library in my name, which my friends, is tax deductible.

So, I didn’t end up quite as well off as I would have had I just taken the money, but that’s still over $200 I’ll be receiving for doing absolutely nothing, and while at the same time not feeling guilty when I spent the money.

Right on! Was the old mans name Mr Magoo?

Good things come to Celtics fans…except, of course, NBA Championships:(

Ya done good! go spend the $200 on something fun
