What to Do with Our Internets?

I’m just going to leave this here for discussion:

I don’t know what I think about it, but I do believe it’s a discussion we should be having, especially with the SOPA/ACTA business that shows no sign of going away. So let me start things off with a question for everyone:

As things are right now, looking at where we’ve come from and where we’re headed:

  1. What do you (an individual) see being the future of the internet? (who is in control of it, what can be accomplished with it, etc.)

  2. What do you (an individual) want the future of the internet to be?

  3. How do we (the internet) get there?

  4. How can I (an individual) help?

  1. I think like all things the internet will be ruined by greedy people.

  2. I’d like the internet to stay the way it is.

As for 3 and 4, I don’t think there is much the average person can do besides signing petitions, writing to congressman, and spreading word about the issue.

Yeah, the internet is one of the last free places one can go, and needs to stay that way.

I’d like to see it return to it roots in basic communication and database access.
