What Protein Powder Are You Using?

I gotcha covered

I mean… If it was still good to use i’d still buy it and use it IF it’s cheaper than all other options.

No matter how gross and clumpy the resulting mixture may be

So far I have tried the Biotest Metabolic Drive vanilla, Raw Nutrition vanilla/chocolate/PB and Myprotien vanilla and fruit cereal.
I like them in the order that I listed them.

No Protein Powder, only food

Slightly off-track here, but Biotest is pretty hard to get/expensive in the UK. Is there a plan to improve this? Do you guys have an official distributor here?

www.biotest.co.uk/ is an official distributor for that side of the pond.

My stomach has been bloated for a while, I’ve been using plant protein because I thought it was the whey making me bloated. Think I’m gonna cut protein out completely and see if it stops.

I thought plant based protein had poor bioavailability, which would cause bloating

Being lactose intolerant, I tried the pea and a few other powders that caused me massive bloating.

I now use whey and take a digestive enzymes (lactase tablet) with a shake and I’m fine overall.

Maybe mate. It certainly didn’t get any better. Think I’m gonna try knocking powder on the head for a while.

Its pretty secondary to eating high protein foods, but it sure is nice to have when you’re 30g short on protein with no room left for carbs or fats! I guess a can of tuna with Sriracha would do well in that situation too though. Good luck buddy

I’ve been taking a whey powder for about a year now. It might be the cheapest whey on the market. Equate from walmart. I like the way it tastes. I typically put it the vanilla in my morning oats, and combine two additional daily servings with eggwhites.

I don’t know what makes other whey powders more special. the ingredients are comparable. If someone can point out to me what makes the pricier options better, then I’ll listen.

Better protein powders (isolate, hydrolisate) are more easily, better absorbed making them of higher value/grade/price - in theory. They are supposedly a cleaner/purer product. Whether it actually matters IRL, I am not that sure. There is always room for compensation. Maybe high-end athletes will notice the difference? Search T-nation articles for more in depth comparisons.

Yea i’ve read the same. supposedly, in theory. etc. I just haven’t seen any side by side studies that elevates any brand of powder over the other. My own anecdotal experience implies little difference. I used to use ON whey, but I was pretty ignorant of nutrition and didn’t track at all back then.

when i read the labels and found the wm cheap brand was pretty comparable. I started buying it and I also began tracking my nutrition and training more accurately.

I often wonder why Biotest doesn’t offer a pure micellar casein protein powder.

I mean you do have to do some comparison, my mate got a load of cheap protein (a big 5kg tub) but it had about 100 extra calories than my normal one, a lot more sugar and was half the price.

After a reading some online reviews people stated that the protein availability etc was good either (not that I understand that), but I do understand that the cheaper protein had a lot more filler in it.

I get that cheap protein will not have as much protein in a serving. But i reckon if you account for that in your overall diet then it shouldnt be any different

Meaning if i take brand name x proteing which has 30g per serving, 3g carb and 1.5g sug

Then i track those numbers along with the other foods i eat daily. . I mean if it says 30g protein per serving. Then you still get the same protein with the cheap and the expensive, just with the expensive you get less other macro nutrients

With all the money getting thrown around in this industry and the number of studies therr are out there you think someone would have done a comparative analysis.

Steak and eggs

Jarrow Vanilla. Best tasting powder I’ve tried so far.
