I played MMORPGs for a long time, but got so sick of the grind that I don’t even follow them any more. Maybe some day a truly revolutionary game worth my time will come around.
My new hobby is learning about steroids. MMORPGs are a time waster. A beautiful time waster…but nevertheless a time waster. I’m a nerd. Really am. My life basically revolves around learning engineering (electrical, electronics, management etc) and as a hobby all I do is read about steroids and train. I’m happy like this. Don’t want to sound like a whiny bitch, but sometimes this routine gets pretty boring and start to feel the necessity of a woman. ah well.
It’s ad supported, but the ads are very non intrusive. There is skill matching, so won’t get stomped too bad by the real good players. There’s lots of neat stat tracking, too.
If you like multiplayer FPS, give it a shot.
Warning: it is very fast paced, and quite unlike any of the newer multiplayer FPS out. It takes a lot of practice. It is hard. Don’t duel.
Anyone play DotA? It’s a custom map for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Somewhat different from the orginal real-time strategy game. It’s free as long as you have WC3 installed and games usually take no more than an hour.

Good Old fashioned Counterstrike - source. Although I can never play just one round… it sucks you in and next thing you know, BAM! Two hours gone! But it’s free after the initial cost of the game.
Yep, cs is still king.
If you’re highly competitive and like to get raged on a regular basis, this is the game for you.[/quote]
Agreed. It’s really the only online game I’ve played, never got into the MMORPG thing thank goodness, waste enough time as it is. You can jump into Counterstrike for 45 minutes or an hour and then get out.
Non-online games, Total War ones are the only ones I really play. Just got Empire, awesome, seems to be a lot tougher than Medieval II, looks beautiful, just takes forever to load on my mediocre laptop.
