What Is Canada Like?

Jesus you guys are tough on PA wiminz lol.

Remember fellas this is 1990. I don’t care what you say, I know what I saw you fuckin’ snobs.

Re: Navy Seal. That doctor better live his life like a saint. That was one quality person that gave his life to secure his safety.

I heard that instead of 911, every family in Canada has a squirrel that’s trained to run for help in an emergency.

It’s like the best parts of the US mixed with Europe.

And all the best starship captains (be it Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica or Firefly) are Canadians.

Wait American milk doesn’t come in bags?

But yeah as a general breakdown:
Hamilton → Sucks
Montreal → Cultured, expensive
Quebec city → Same as Montreal
Ottawa → Take Washington and combine it Montreal and make it colder
Toronto → Mini New York minus rats and variety of stuff
Southeast Ontario → Pretty much Northern New York
Vancouver → Awesome all round, other than the density of people

The women → Slightly less fat on average

Never been to prairie land or far out east.

Canadians are Americans, mexicans are Americans,Cuba is part of America.
It’s like saying I am European (french) but I wonder what Spain is like.

what?

This is actually a pretty good summary.

I would say that Hamilton is pretty much like the worst parts of Buffalo and Mordor combined.

Quebec City has a very different vibe than Montreal. It’s really like a European city that has been transplanted into Canada. Not that expensive either, at least not when I went there as a tourist.

Great description of Ottawa - really fun city. Gatineau is great too.

Toronto is absolutely world class as far as cities go (except for the subway system), it gets ragged on a lot by the rest of Canada for having a huge population of dickheads, but I disagree.

Winnipeg is way better than people make it out to be. The people tend to be really nice - almost Ned Flanderish in how far they will go to help you out. From what I can see, most of the horrible crime stats you hear about there are native-related.

I’m from (and currently live in) Montreal. I would have to say that Winnipeg is one of my favorite cities. Montreal has lately become a snobish french vs english environment (at least down town during the student protest/PQ elections).

People tend to say 2 things about Winnipeg: mosquitoes during the summer, nightmare cold during the winter. I found it to be one of the friendliest places I’ve EVER been (there and, believe it or not: Boston!). Everybody is kind and down to earth and I even think the women are prettier! Montreal women are experiencing a Laval spill over and tend to look more and more like the fake, model-ish style. I am into the home-grown farm-girl folksie type of woman so i much prefer Winnipeg!

Though beer has been mentioned in this thread, I don’t think anybody has really emphasized our ability to drink it. I love seeing Americans come on over and want to go out for some drinks. They are always the first people in the group to pass out. Maybe it’s our low drinking age (18 in mtl) which allows us to develop our manly, winter-fighting tolerance.

I think could deal with the communistical gov’t to drive a skyline, have legal weed, and being able to ski there.

No. That is arbitrary semantics.

oh yeh the womenz

my french wife is a bombshell in bed

Talking about Canada I can speak about Toronto only, and from the perspective of a foreigner immigrant. If you OK with anglo-saxon culture, able to tolerate those weird isolated and not really socially integrated mixed immigrant cultures and looks, you will be fine there. I found women are rude and lots of them act like man, but that is now getting common in most so called west countries… feminism… way too many young drug addicts that could get you in trouble even if you try hard to stay faraway from them… and homosexuals are everywhere, so if you are a single man and at least a little bit take care of your body and the way you dress, quite often people in Toronto will think you are a homosexual as well…

America, personally for me, is slightly better because people are a little bit more open, to my surprise more sincere and friendlier than Canadians, and lets say less provincial than Canadians. For the obvious reason America also has way more potential possibilities. However, neither country is the place where I would like to live permanently… There is no perfect country in this world, and talking about permanent living every country sucks in its own way… but I was very impressed with Colombia and in general Latin America. Woman over there love their husbands so much that west countries don’t even remember what this kind of love is anymore… Women are very subtle and feminine ( NOT FEMINIST) in Latin America, they flirt with men a lot, but in a very subtle way. It still makes sense to get married in Colombia because this would improve your life quality which isn’t the case in most west countries anymore… You are not going to see any drug addict in Colombia and in most Latin American countries in general, I didn’t even see a drunk person… all the drugs being made in jungles close to Panama border, and all the drugs go to USA, Canada, and Europe… While my impression in big cities in west countries on friday night every second person is on drugs or alcohol… White people in Colombia are being accepted as equal, although I got lots of compliments for my blue eyes. This racism aspect is very different from Asia for example where the girls mostly don’t like you and spend time with white men only as long as they support them financially, or expect you to do so. You must speak Spanish in Latin America, English will not take you very far over there.

“Like a man” is relative. Like if you’re a big pussy we’re all going to seem manly, no?

Then why is it that if I ask a Canadian if he’s American, he NEVER says, “why yes, yes I am!”
