After different posts, reading different articles, watching different videos im starting to question whether seeing a urologist is the correct dr for me. I am 35. I have azoospermia. My wife and i are in the early stages of trying to concieve. I am currently on hcg and test cyp. He says to add clomid. I just dont get the type of logical explanation or clear cut reasons for trying different things that i get from online forums or fertility doctors youtube channels. Anyhow, my question is should i be seeing an endocrinologist, andrologist or urologist? Who is more equipped to help me?
A urologist deals with male reproductive health, if you are interested in fertility, FSH should be on the doctors testing because FSH is needed for healthy sperm parameters.
There are urologist who focus on reproduction.
I mean if you were on clomid only it would make you more fertile
Here’s a good thread if you want a crash course (says 32 min read but YMMV). I’d start with the fundamentals like why would a doctor go along with testosterone+hCG+Clomid if you are trying to conceive with your partner?
A good doc would try to determine if you are primary or secondary with your androgen status. Why are you on testosterone? Primary check with hCG and potentially FSH/HMG. If secondary then potentially could get away with SERM or AI. The info above may help you discuss with your provider(s).
Thanks for the thread. I will read. Ive been on test for 5 years. My body wasnt producing any. My levels were under 70ng/dl. Clomid alone didnt work. Androgel didnt work. So i was put on test and my quality of life immediately improved. I had energy, i wasnt sleeping as soon as i got home from work in the afternoon and i had a sex drive again. However now with trying to become fertile my doc is adding hcg and clomid to the test and seeing what happens.
If you are primary, hcg would not work right? Cause testicles do not produce.
