Its good to se most of you on here have good jobs…I used to work for a company that did contract work for General Motors. Then I got laid off. Been unemployed for a year now. As you all know the automobile industry went under and in Michigan we have the highest unemployment rate in the nation. So right now im surviving off my unemployment. Its a depression in this state.
Completions supervisor in the canadian oil patch. Basically glorified babysitter 24 hrs a day.
I am a certified irrigation designer, certified arborist and a licensed lanscape contractor. I sold my business 7 yrs ago and went to work for TruGreen LandCare. Left there a year ago and have been bouncing around the industry ever since. I got into landscape on accident over 15 yrs ago and I am burned out on it. I hate it.
I am trying to come up with a way to change careers and still make good money. I make $65k / yr now but hate it every day. My dream is to own a gym and help others like me get into great shape. Just need to find a way to make it happen. I envy all you folks out there who love their jobs … wish I had made some better choices years ago. I am 38 now and have a wife and two boys, ages 11 and 6 I have to keep them fed and happy so my career happiness takes a back seat all the time

IT field is tough. I too have been laid off TWICE in that industry. However, I was able to pick up some short contract work for a while.
Brownfields Coordinator for a small Environmental firm in small town North Carolina. Actually we are very busy right now or at least my side of the business is, so I feel very fortunate.
