Anything suggested to help this? I would like to see what can be done be before I go down the road of thyroid replacement. Any supplement recommendations would be appreciated. I am fairly ignorant on thyroid function, however, have read about the need for iodine and selenium. I get plenty of salt in my diet albeit pink Himalayan and not outright iodized.
Have labs from a CMP on 8/2019, 5/2019 and 11/2018 if you guys need more metrics to help.
Hypothyroidism can be caused by low iodine intake. Iodine status is best assessed in a 24h urine sample.
However in case your increased TSH levels are caused by an autoimmune disease (Hashimotos or Graves disease) extra iodine might make the situation worse. In this case selenium might be able to bring down the level of anti thyroid antibodies.
Did you get the anti thyroid antibodies checked (eg anti TPO ab or anti TG ab)?
No, only TSH. Please indicate what I may need to get bloods for if needed. Ordered a selenium and iodine Supplement to see how that may help. I’m guessing urine tests for iodine could be easily ordered online?
