In retail the customer is always right. This puts you in a position to find win-win scenarios and usually requires finesse to pull off. You will be abused significantly by Karen’s and others. Not only will you learn how to work through and with them, you will develop tough skin.

Moving in to a more professional role where you work with professional people will feel like you just stepped up to the plate after warming up with five bats.

You will learn more lessons about humans and yourself than you could ever imagine. Are you a quitter or do you keep driving? Can you find optimism when odds are against you? Are you genuinely resilient as customers abuse you and bosses lord quotas over your head et cetera. Lots of internal realizations and growth, especially in direct sales.
