WHAT A SHOOT

I understand the importance of maintaining control during a car stop of that nature. However, along with every police officer’s training and instruction comes the need to use common sense. This is stressed time and time again during police academy training.

Most officers have the common sense to know which types of dogs are dangerous to them. Pit bulls, dobermans, rottweilers, types like that running toward an officer should certainly cause concern. Again, it comes down to using common sense. If there’s four officers on the scene, there’s enough to maintain some sort of control to ensure a dog doesn’t run loose once all occupants are out of the car.

Well, I’m commenting enough. I haven’t yet heard or read about this particular story and can only go by what’s been posted on this thread so far. It is sad that this family didn’t even commit the crime and had their pet slain right in front of them.
