I’m going out with She Say and three of my life-long-pals/bosom-buddies and their wives. I contacted everyone, made the reservations, etc, etc. My initial invite said everyone had to wear suits. I got to thinking this would be cool after reading the article TC wrote about the Marines that formed the new Rat Pack. I was also reading a biography on Frank Sinatra, who always wore a suit when he was out, and thought it was divine intervention telling me to wear a suit.
Anyway, I got push back from my 3 life-long-pals/bosom-buddies. They don’t wanna wear suits. They say they just wanna be casual.
The restaurant we’re going to isn’t a jacket and tie affair, but it’s not a road-house either. Think Eye-talian Trattoria. We’re gonna hit the ESPN Zone afterwards and my friends said ‘no way’ they’re wearing suits to the ESPN Zone.
What would you guys do?
I’m wearing my suit.
I wouldn’t wear a suit, but rather a sportcoat and dress shirt, with no tie. You will look nice, but not too dressed up and out of place. If you wear a suit, you will end up wishing you hadn’t, once you get to the Zone.
DB
Unless I’m guest starring in a live ESPN show that is shooting @ ESPN Zone, there’s no way I’m wearing a suit there. Instead I’d wear a collared shirt, slacks, and comfortable shoes that look decent.
Now if the evening involved a higher-end restaurant and bar, then yeah, I’d swank it up with a suit.
Not if you’re going to a bar that allows smoking. Don’t stink up a nice suit. The sport coat/dress shirt option sounds good.
No smoking in my state…
I’ve only ever been to the ESPN Zone once…was pretty liquored up and don’t remember much…will I actually be playing football or basketball there?

They have a basketball half court and lots of interactive games, which is why I’d wouldn’t go with a suit.
What about jeans, a nice, crisp white t-shit, snazzy shoes and matching belt and a spiffy biege sport coat with a very fine plaid, twill pattern?
No suit. Slacks, polo shirt and sportcoat.

Yes. It is pretty cool, you can shoot free throws, throw the football and I think there is a batting cage in addition to the video game stuff. Been a few years since I have been there.

No jeans? They had jeans on the mannequin at the store I got the crisp, white t-shirt from…

You will look better than 95% of the jersey and backwards ballcap wearing slobs @ ESPN Sportzone.

Would you reccomend a jock strap? I’m thinking that’s NOT a problem if I go with the jeans, but it might bunch up and look bulky in slacks…

She Say was planning on wearing a dress, which always works out for me because I plan these get-togethers to fall on, or in between the 10th and 14th day of her mense cycle, so she’s always horny and I can do all kinds of fun stuff while we’re driving, walking etc and she’s got a dress on…but…sounds like a dress would be a ‘no-go’…damn…what should I tell HER to wear ? Christ.
Is it not possible to wear nice stuff to the restaurant and then give yourselves an opportunity to change into some more appropriate for the ESPN Zone?
I suppose it’s not for the women, but they can just wait in the car, can’t they?

Dood…you’re one step ahead of me. I’m thinking Adidas running shorts UNDER my suit pants and a Lakers tank top under my spiffy new french cuff shirt. If only I’d thought of this earlier, I coulda got velcro or snaps on my suit and then ripped it off as I entreyed the ESPN Zone…dam…gotta shout out to my T-bras earlier in the week from now on !

She can wear a dress. I haven’t been there in years so hopefull my advice isn’t dated but she won’t be totally out of place. It is a sports bar so it isn’t dressy but it is Inner Harbor so you get all kinds of groups.

That would rock!

I think this is the look you would like to cultivate, it works in both arenas that you plan on attending for the night. </end gay designer speak>
