LHT, any links on what part of the world this can be seen from?
It’s funny, I’ve been looking since I read your question, but what is so annoying is that all these damned websites are either discussion the silliness, or simply offering another rewrite of the ‘standard’ debunking without for a moment actually discussing stargazing possibilities – i.e., they are just concerned with disproving the extreme claims instead of just discussing practical amateur astronomy. I’ll look more tomorrow, if I can’t find anything I’ll send you a couple of book references.
Thank you, much appreciated.

PX started a thread about this a while back and I did the same thing at that time. The thread inspired me to look for information about Mayans and astronomy. I ran into the same problem. All that came up was this end of the world crap.
To be fair, I didn’t search too hard, but at the same I really think that it is lousy considering what an incredible civilization that the Mayans had.

You know, KrohDaddi, I can’t figure out if you are the grandson of e.e. cummings or if you’re just the dude who writes assembly instructions for every product made in China.
Maybe both?

If you’d send those references my way I’d be much obliged. I find all this stuff fascinating.

Bob for president.
The Mayan calendar doesn’t correspond at all with ours (no leap years for starters), which is so messed up that we are still trying to use dead civilizations and religions to pinpoint doomsday.

QFT.
Also, the end of the world will most likely be at the hands of humanity. Collectively getting more and more powerful and less and less intelligent.

Haha… I see what you did there. Well played.

What the fuck happened to the days when end of world crazies were limited to walking around wearing sandwich board signs?
This shit has gotten out of hand. Just look at the amount of money spent on billboards declaring the world is going to end by Harold Camping and his crew.
Lets hope the 2012 end of the worlder’s have a limited budget.

Shit will start hitting the fan when october/November comes around. The attention it has received is going to cause chaos. Especially when December rolls around, people will start behaving like their true selves.

motherfuckers weren’t smart enough to know corn has no nutritional value and I’m supposed to believe they know when the world will end? riiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhhht
It also has a decent amount of magnesium and b vitamins.
BG can speak for himself but I think he’s saying that corn is rock bottom tier when it comes to nutritional value.
Well, plenty of people manage to do just fine with it in their diets, right?
I think you guys are missing the point that corn fresh off the stalk is a completely different food then the corn in the grocery store. It is actually a fibrous vegetable for several hours and then turns into a starchy one. The nutrients change as well. Grow your own vegetables. It cheaper, they taste better, and are better for you. Not supporting the genetically modified 10 foot tall super corn stalks btw
Lets hope the 2012 end of the worlder’s have a limited budget.
Bullets are cheap. Maybe they can just go and off themselves and put us out of their misary ?
If the world does end, there won’t be anyone around to say, “I told you so.”
