you ever feel like youre in an argument with someone and dont know what you’re arguing about? that’s me right now. I read the article, and it talked shit about the CNN report that appeared to do everything it could to present the story as far away from CNN’s narrative as possible, it also said that MSNBC’s report did much of the same. Good on CNN for calling out a shitty DA, it needs to be made known when these people aren’t doing their jobs properly - if only CNN could do that more often.
And bad that your article said they didn’t.

I’m soooooo disappointed. Suspended. Who cares if he was blatantly lying about getting the scoop on his brother’s accusers, big deal.
Waukesha Christmas parade suspect: I’m being treated like a ‘monster’ (msn.com)
Give me a break. If it looks and sounds like a duck…
I read this and cannot imagine what a family member who lost a child or parent to this piece of crap is feeling.
As Joe Hill said on his way to the gallows, “Don’t mourn; organize.” This fellow was out on bail after having tried to run over the mother of his child.
Politicians, including “progressive” DAs, need to hear from their constituents about bail policies. They work for us; make them accountable. Make clear that you won’t vote for anyone who favors policies that put the public at increased risk of violent crime, such as defunding police departments, reducing or eliminating bail for violent or repeat offenders, or refusing to enforce “quality of life” statutes. Even the overwhelmingly left-wing people of San Francisco are sick of it and have gotten a referendum on the ballot for next summer to recall their execrable DA Chesa Boudin. https://recallchesaboudin.org/
Of course MSNBC would run this story. There isn’t a criminal piece of shit they don’t love and want to release into our communities.
Ask the Jan. 6 rioters about their treatment, even the ones who got released because they never actually entered the premises of the Capitol and still were held in solitary confinement for 90 days.
Solitary is torture. It’s not overt torture and there are some people who deserve it. This guy deserves it. But to be held isolated with a single light in a room by yourself with nothing to do but rot is absolute torture.
Somebody, not me, should try it for 12 hours. I bet it will feel like a month…
This is what people who don’t read articles end up posting. Now, Pat has blocked me because of posts like this from me, posts that expose his lack of intellect and abundance of tribalism. Or you could simply say it’s because I contradict his falsehoods with facts. The following is from the article:
" Brooks spoke to Fox News briefly Wednesday. The media outlet refers to Brooks as “soft-spoken.” Brooks did not provide any more details about a motive.
“I just feel like I’m being monster — demonized,” Brooks told Fox News, adding that he feels he’s been “dehumanized.”
“Brooks appeared calm, lucid and took time to answer each question — even repeating reporters’ questions and answers at times,” wrote Michael Ruiz and Stephanie Pagones.
The two Fox News reporters were the first visitors Brooks received."
Hmmmmmmm… Fox News…
The only facts we need to know are:
- It was definitely not racially motivated.
- It was probably a reaction to white supremacy.
- We’ve known for years that no one should be driving gas-guzzling SUVs that are larger than necessary.
Is this entire response posted in sarcasm or are you being serious? honestly, i cannot tell
Well, I don’t believe these things, but I’m also almost certain investigation will reveal them to us.
The problem is that these things would probably require premeditation and planning. We know he was fleeing a crime scene so did he suddenly notice a parade of white people and think, “I might as well take a moment to kill some white people while I’m at it,”?
I’m not saying he wasn’t motivated by race, but it doesn’t seem like it was planned ahead of time like a terrorist attack. He had already shown he was prone to violence, including the use of a motor vehicle, so it is possible he just felt like running over some people because he’s a violent nut who has been getting away with it.
I agree with your whole response here, but my question is: do we honestly think this is how it would be portrayed in the media if he were white and drove through a crowd of black people?
Situations could be identical, but i still doubt the media would have the restraint not to call the hypothetical white Brooks a white supremacist.
Do we honestly know it wouldn’t?
I don’t see the point of getting into discussions of race based on ifs. It’s no different than a black person saying if so and so were white, he would have been treated differently. I prefer to stick to facts which usually end up contradicting the ifs.
I agree with this generally, as such discussions are usually pointless speculation about counterfactuals that serves no purpose.
But this is one case where we know beyond any reasonable doubt what the consequences would be in the counterfactual. It seems so obvious as to be beyond serious question that if a white man with a history of anti-black comments on social media drove an SUV into a crowd of black people, we would be hearing about it every day (if not every hour) from the MSM for weeks, there would be protests coast to coast, and Joe Biden and every other prominent Dem in America would be loudly denouncing it daily as a horrific act of racial terror. There would be loud calls for social media to censor hate speech, and for the FBI to monitor people posting it. Anyone suggesting that the incident wasn’t planned, that he was “fleeing” from an altercation or whatever, would be denounced as rationalizing racial terror. Hell, look at the Jussie Smollett incident; it didn’t even happen (and everyone with the smallest bit of common sense knew it was bullshit immediately) and still prominent Dems and the media treated it as evidence of the fundamental depravity of conservative white America.
I don’t see how anyone can fail to agree with this, or fail to agree that it says something remarkable (even if you think it’s good that we have such a double standard) about where we are as a society.
The media is still talking about it however, the media also moves on to the next story.
And the story which has overtaken it, is a school shooting in which the victims were, I believe, white. Which brings up the question, why does the murder of a few white kids get portrayed as a tragedy, it is of course, but when this happens everyday in places like Chicago with black children, the media doesn’t care.
Or, why do the white girl disappearances/murders become national obsessions, but not black/latina/indigenous girls?
Probably because school shooters are targeting children while the shootings of innocent children in Chicago are targeting someone/something else.
