Holy crap.

I have the graphic novel and my one concern is that it is just such a multi-layered and fairly complex story… and I don’t mean for a comic book, I mean period. I think that’s an excellent thing and it’s challenges you as a reader. I wonder if that will translate well to the big screen… I hope so.

Definitely watch the trailer in 1080 HD from the Apple site. Awesome.

Which is why I hope they make it a two parter. The great thing about Watchmen is there was no fat in the story. You could cut out 600 pages of War and Peace and you wouldn’t miss it, but every panel of Watchmen was essential, and I don’t see how this movie could work at under 4 hours.

Holy cow! That looks freaking AWESOME!!!

You can download the HD versions of the trailer here.

I’m on my 5th watching of this already.

I didn’t post it here, credit goes to LUEshi. However, I have tried to watch it about 4 or 5 times in the last hour.

Shit, you’re right. I got this thread confused with the Death Race thread. Sorry.

I’ve watched it at least 3 times since it downloaded. I do take issue with how lanky one of the guys was, but then, I am one of the few who hasn’t read the graphic novel yet.

It looks like they put a shit load of money into it so far…and it is still in production phase.[/quote]

There really weren’t any big dudes in the graphic novel except for Comedian (guy with flamethrower) and Dr. Manahttan (blue guy). The rest of the characters were pretty small (Rorschach was stated in the book being only 5’7 and 140 lbs)

It’s obviously not a two parter, since they have a shot of Nite-Owl collapsing in the snow (which as you know happens at the end of the story).

It’s still in production, so they could still cut it in two, but that’s a risky marketing strategy and the director would have to have a lot of clout to pull it off, so they probably won’t.

I did a little research on the book and I must say:

The Comedian is my kind of guy. If I was a super hero, I’d be him.

Wol, I never knew you were striving to be a sociopath. Dream big, you crazy dreamer.

I looked it up. Yeah, I’m a sociopath waiting to happen.

Lol at the Night Owl.

Read the book.

Will be interesting to see how they portray Manhattan’s interpretation of time.

Rorschach will be the shit as well.

Movie will be the shit.

Read the book first. Will make it even more awesome.

Despite being a comic fan during the 80’s, I only read the graphic novel recently. It certainly does make me view it differently now as compared to if had I read it during my teen years.

Still, having the images fresh in my head does make the trailer totally bad ass. I’m definitely fire up for this. If anyone hasn’t read the original comic, I really suggest doing so, but again, keep in mind when it was written.

It’s good to have goals.

On a more serious note, I am thinking back to the book and wondering which character pretty much freaked me out the most… I am thinking it was the Comedian, but then again… no one has it all together in The Watchmen, really.

I think it was Time magazine which voted “The Watchmen” one of the top 100 pieces of fiction in the 20th Century. And rightfully so.

I’m hoping this is true and it’s not a let down compared to he book.

Idk, but that trailer had a lot of elements taken straight from the book in it. They better include all the parts with the kid hanging out at the news stand.
