Want to build muscle but also wanna keep a lean face

So, I want to put on more mass but I want to keep a lean face, I bartend etc and like to get dates. And to be honest ever since I cut down a bit I’ve really enjoyed how my face looks right now. How can I stay relatively lean and also put on mass. And I know people say u have to gain some fat to gain mass.

I never experienced what I would describe as a face fattening as I gained muscle. I gained from 165lbs to 242lbs in 12 years with about the same percent body fat (I estimate at 15% body fat.)

Did u stay at maintenance or a small surplus?

I never paid much attention to how much I was eating, except I increased the protein significantly. Three years after I started lifting weights I began competing in Bodybuilding contests (about 3 contests every year.) After every contest I allowed my body to return to about 15% body fat.

I always stayed about 8 weeks out from contest shape at my “fattest.”

I don’t say this as a dig at all, I just don’t remember anyone ever worrying specifically about a lean face. You were either too fat or you weren’t. Lately I see a quite a few concerns where dudes are asking about fat in their face. Is this an influencer thing or what is driving it?

Ever heard of Clavicular? It goes beyond just fat in the face, these goobers are “micro fracturing” their faces with hammers.

It’s just the latest in the long line of making young boys feel insecure about their bodies so that companies can prey on them.

Remember these?

A generation of young men wondering what they could to to keep their ribs from showing!

Those little ads were near the back of many different magazines in the 1960’s. My guess that those were the peak years of the Charles Atlas ads.

Yup. Absolute classics of physical culture. Mail order dynamic tension muscle building kits, right up there with Shaolin Ninja secrets and x-ray glasses.

Then what are you expecting?

J how to control it. Like a good approach to putting on muscle and staying lean

No, I have had bad experiences with prior bulk where I got just bloated and looked not good. And also I did have severe cystic acne for years so a bit of self esteem issues? But mostly because my last bulk I just looked so bloated and not good.

Yes i know him however i just wanted to keep a lean face and not have to get all bloated and have excess fat face that’s all.

Sometimes shitty food can cause inflammation and bloat your face.

Think about what you ate during your last Bulk, and what you’ve been eating since you lost weight.

Besides the amount of calories, where you drinking a lot, or eating slop?

I’d say it was dirty tbh. Definitely not controlled.

It sounds less like you were bulking and more like you were gorging and using lifting as a means to justify it.

Perhaps, instead of throwing bulking out with the bathwater, a more sensible approach this time would be the ticket.

Thanks. This was like my newb years I guess so I was pretty inexperienced overall.

We all do it. I spent my early 20s following the 2007 Dave Tate Little Debbies diet. It’s a rite of passage.
