The plot kind of failed me during this portion of the show.

 • Everyone wants a break and to hang out for a day or two in the open field during which time they can stab walkers to death through the fence and conserve ammo.

 • Leader says “No we are pushing into the prison”

 • They storm the prison

They have never addressed what would happen if you told Rick to piss off. I miss Shane, sure he was nuts but its a zombie apocalypse. At least he got shit done while everyone else sat around waiting for Rick to make a decision. During the start of season 2 when Rick couldn’t find his ass with both hands Shane kept getting shit done.

Only after Rick realized that being “Mr. Nice Guy” is going to get people killed did Shane become superfluous. Now here we are at the start of season 3 and everyone just follows Ricks lead even though his ideas put undue risk on the group. Just doesn’t make any sense…

Seriously, what would happen if Daryl simple said “no, I am going to chill here in the field for a couple days”, or some other form of disagreement.
Rick got them through winter. I don’t think there will be conflict over something so trivial.
The point is they never addressed what would happen, even before winter.
We might see when The Governor appears.

Yea they did. The group would be split. Darryl would be the new shame.

Wouldn’t work with darryl he is too loyal. There aren’t any. Solo artists in the group anymore. We saw darryl wasn’t going anywhere during his telling off of Lori…

Darryl will do whatever he’s told

They definitely did a super time warp across the winter that left a lot unanswered. But I’m guessing that after last season’s “this is not a democracy” shpiel, everyone went along with it because nobody wanted to strike off on their own or ruffle feathers. I’m guessing more of what happened “over the winter” will be discussed, or at least hinted at, somewhere down the line.

Overall I liked the episode. Walkers in SWAT gear… ha, reminded me of an end of level boss. And WTF was with Lori’s funky preggo belly suit. I know the effects crew could’ve done better than that. Looks like the thing they said Beyonce was wearing.

Not sure what Rick’s line of thinking with Hershel’s leg was, though. “He’s bit by a walker. He’ll get an infection. Lemme save him by cutting off his leg with this rusty hatchet that’s covered in walker brains. Oh, now he’s bleeding out. Whoops.”

Just found this from last season. Not so easy now that the shoe’s on the other foot, so to speak. Teehee.

THANK YOU!

And right before that they have a little pow-wow and discuss how everyone is a carrier of the “walker” disease and if you die there is a good chance you will get right back up as an un-dead.

I mean if he already had the disease what the f#ck did he save him from? If he lives through the rest of the season without half a leg I will be truly surprised. More likely than not he will slowly die and become a walker anyways. Probably just slightly-prolonged his life at the expense of tremendous pain.

#I bitch but I will still watch

I watched Talking Dead after wards and they mentioned that Herschel started walking around with an emergency medical bag which included a clean, non-covered-in-zombie-goop hatchet …

It’s either chop the leg off to stop the quick spreading zombie infection from spreading and hoping they find the infirmary, or just straight up shoot herschel in the face …

Pretty sure Rick was just trying to selfishly keep him alive until he can deliver the baby. Once that baby is delivered and it and Lori are ok then fuck him, let him die.

It came down to kill him now, or try and save him, use him, then let him die/kill him.

I’m still not sure why they brought the old fucker in with them. I would have kept him out of harms way until the baby was delivered.

I thought it made perfect sense, like a snake bite and sucking out the poison, or whatever. Chop off before it has a chance to infect the entire system.

I’m gonna guess what happens. Doctor is delivering the baby but turns into a zombie, the broad shoots him in the brain while the baby is popping out of the va-jay-jay.

that would be a total steal form DOD remake, kind of lame. Now eating it’s way out of Lori thus killing her, fucking EPIC

I too was seriously wondering why they didnt just camp out in the field and stab walkers through the fence. Someone should have thought of that. But then there was the whole baby on the way situation. so Meh.

I’m going for comfort and shelter is why they didn’t do that … sleeping on the ground can’t be good for the baby

Which is more secure? a fence or Iron bars? Again he wanted to get into the infirmary and also to get food, they were eating owl and road kill.

Anyone else getting annoyed by the sound effect saturation? Every time someone swings a piece of metal: schwiing! ka-pluch! Schliiiiing!

Gimme a break.
Derek542 wrote:

The opening scene was them overtaking a house where they were going to try and hold up for the night. Walkers show up and they take off…

So in the continuum of safeness I would say:
Park Jungle Gym----House---------------Inside Prison Fence-----------In the prison---------------------NORAD

Point is Ammo conservation is just as important as the increased safety of sleeping in the prison tonight vs tomorrow night. Thank god they switched to killing walkers with fire pokers and swords I really wouldn’t have watched another season of unlimited ammo usage.

Honestly, you think a consultant would have said something.

This is just as bad as Carl Jr pinging off walker head shots from the prison tower with 100% accuracy.

Pretty sure this describes the majority of Season 2 for a lot of people. Ha.

That makes it a little more reasonable, but I don’t want to have to watch Talking Dead to get some kind of “director’s commentary” explaining why things make more sense than what we saw. I don’t think it was too clear that he pulled the axe from some kind of first aid bag.

Anyhow, I’m looking forward to seeing how social they get with the prisoner survivors. I’ll laugh if one of them just so happens to be a friend of Daryl or T-Dog, or someone Rick arrested, who got locked up long before things fell apart.

Yeah I was counting the number of times he fired that thing, it got up to over 20 before I lost count, LOL.
