I’ve often wondered if vitamin supplements could be doing more harm than good, especially with high doses, it seems like real research might actually lean that way too. I take vitamins sometimes but a lot of times I’ll have issues like nausea or even heart burn and think to myself “jesus, if it makes my stomach ill it can’t be that good for me”
People tend to treat vitamins like snake oil. Not realizing they really are just vitamins. Vitamin C can cure scurvy or cause diarrhea. You can use a hammer to nail or to break a screw.
It’s also a super unregulated industry, I doubt people are getting 50% of what they think they are. It very well may be the other shit causing cancers then the actual vitamins themselves.
That being said I take my vitamin. Purely because I notice a difference. I definitely wouldn’t take one that gives me a headache or any other ailing effects but to each his own.
I regulate between vitamins and Superfood by Biotest. This way I feel I have most things covered.
I also make sure I ingest protein (MAG-10) after workouts, and Metabolic Low Cal at night.
Never a stomach upset!! I also drink a LOT of water.
You might as well get your vitamins from a box of freakin cereal. facepalm. the info has been posted about. what vitamins or minerals are you confused about? YES cheap multivitamins are a TERRIBLE idea, including most brands like centrum and the drug store brands as well. very few, I mean VERY few quality products out there. I’m pretty sure there is a thread about good multi vit/mins on this website. Did you search for it? It’s there. I promise 'cause i posted in it.
Fact - Many vitamins and minerals are lacking in your shitty diet. This is a fact. There are some vitamins and minerals that are nearly impossible to get enough of with depleted soil. In addition, lifestyle (sweating, stress, andheavy training) depletes and places add’l demands, or previous years of shitty eating or pre-existing health issues, especially malabsorption/IBS (VERY common due to disregard of symptoms by most people), or some combo of (or all) the above. Where’s Bill Roberts when you need him??
Many vitamins and minerals must be taken with food to be absorbed and or to prevent stomach issues. It’s easy to over-do it when it comes to SOME vitamins/minerals. Others not so much. Educate yourself(ves) for shit sake. Stop makng blanket statements and assumptions, unless it is about generic “one a days” being shit. if you wanna take a “multi” i am not saying it’s a bad idea. just saying that most are worse for you than not taking one.
Life Extension has a powdered ‘whole food’ multi product. That would be my recommendation, but it’s very pricey, but seems to be a hell of a formulation.
