Vitamin D

I recently had some labs done (blood was drawn in late September) and my Vit D levels came back far above the top of the range. I live in Canada, work a lot of night shifts, and generally don’t get that much sun exposure, especially between September and March. I’ve been taking 6000 iu of D3 in gel form for probably about two years without giving it much thought.

I figured this was near the lower end of what many people were taking and thought that this would likely have me a bit over the low end of the range. I decided to have the numbers checked and I was at 360 NMOL/L while the target range is 75-200 NMOL. The lab report notes that anything over 250 is potentially toxic.

I’m taking two weeks off from any Vit D supplementation and then starting back up at 2000 or 3000 iu /day.

Illustrates the point that it is advisable to get your numbers checked to make sure that your supplementation scheme is having the desired effect.

Man… I’ll have to get some blood work done. I’ve been taking 5-10k IU for a long while now.

I’m at 5k every day as well. Doing labs this month.

After reading the importance of vitamin D here at T Nation, this is what I did with a little research from other people talking about this supplement.
I purchased:
Healthy Origins Vitamin D3 5000IU liquid gels 360 tabs $14.95.
