Vista vs Windows 7

Don’t turn whoever sold you the Vista, just drain them.

Now that you all are mentioning it, Vista was awful. I really only use my computer for studying (fitness, psych stuff) so anything beyond that is useless to me. But, I have two computers in my apartment and one is wireless…the wireless one NEVER connected to the network although it did on XP.

It looks like I’ll be getting Windows 7 soon…you say schools have it? Where the bookstores?[/quote]

well, since I have no OS right now would an upgrade be the right choice? I was thinking I’d need the Full Version.

That links looks good but with the current invalid state of my Vista will it work…since its only an upgrade?

You may have to do a complete reformat of the computer (IE custom install). If you do that you will have to reinstall all of your programs. In other words you have to start from scratch everything will be gone. If you have school assignments on there they will be destroyed. BACK UP if you can!!! Depending on how may programs you have currently installed on the PC this could be a all night task for you. You need to to have a feeding before you do this task. It could be a stressful one.

Forgot to ask is the vista machine usable as of this moment?

He’s a vampire. Many maidens will be sucked dry as Windows is installed…

Yes, I’m on the web right now using it.

There’s just no Start menu or other programs available.

And I only have Microsoft Office on the machine and Foxit Reader so it won’t take too much blood out of me.

Is the Upgrade or Full Version the oen I need?

runs off into the night

MWAHAHAHAHAHHA

You need the full. You can’t upgrade regardless because your Vista copy isn’t legit, plus with how screwed up stuff is a full format sounds like its exactly what you need.

I don’t think he’ll need a complete reformat, just needs to install the new OS… XP or 7. Vista sucks anyway, so it’s just as well, Rock! And I don’t know why people don’t like MAC. It’s awesome if you’re looking for outstanding graphics and multimedia capability.

I have Windows on my PC and a Mac laptop, and I def use my Mac way more… but that’s just me, and I’m a tech person  If you’re in the market for a new computer all together, and you can afford it, you can get a Mac with both operating systems on it, and can switch back and forth from Windows to Mac. If you don’t do much on your computer besides surfing the web and using the word processing programs, it’s not worth spending the money on anything fancy. Just go with XP or 7. No need for Professional versions or a Mac.

Just my 2 cents  Oh, and it is a REALLY good idea to put all your docs, pics and whatever is important on a flash drive or external hard drive of some sort before you install… just in case, since that Vista program wasn’t legit, as someone else said. The new Windows program should still recognize and save your docs, but you should always play it safe when it comes to your docs.

Wait, wait, what? How is he supposed to “install the OS” without reformatting? He can’t upgrade, his copy of Vista isn’t genuine.

Did you ever get windows 7 installed?
