Virgin Coconut Oil?

the spectrum and the nutiva brands smell like coconut – delish – and they are both unrefined, organic.

has anyone heard that coconut oil can help control blood sugar and help with sugar cravings?

i read it in the coconut oil miracle book and i think there may be some truth to that.

I’m having a shake right now with VCO in it and it is delicious. I like the subtle coconut flavor that it adds.

yeah i guess that chick i knew from uni thought that it would be fun for her to smell bad by covering herself with rancid coconut oil all year. that explains it so much better than her thinking that it made her smell good.

(yes i’ll look for another brand lolz)

x2. I found this out only this week. I used to use Mac Oil or some nut butter (other than PB). But EVCO is awesomesauce.

I brought a jar today. Expensive stuff. Had a bit of a taste, and sorry Alexus, but it doesnt taste that bad.

So anyway, whats the go? Am I meant to replace butter with this stuff? Is this so I avoid the “bad omegas”? Somebody fill me in.

We are officially changing the name of coconut oil to awesomesauce (without a space).

From now on coconut oil = awesomesauce

i think you are supposed to use it for cooking bird.
quit using olive oil for cooking and use coconut oil instead.
(olive oil for salads and cold stuff)

at least that is what seems to be what is going on…

but i don’t know anything about nutrition

oh…

butter tends to burn but apparently coconut oil not so much.

although the smoke point is lower it doesn’t mutate or something… someone will know. or you could find it in site search.

clarified butter has a higher smoke point…

maybe it doesn’t have the good stuff that coconut oil is supposed to have??

Buy it online, it’s much cheaper.

It has a high smoke point.

Olive oil has a low smoke point and butter is even lower.

If you’re going to cook with butter go for the clarified kind.

Again, people talking without facts.

Butter doesnt “burn” faster. It’s the “little milk” at the bottom that “burns” first. Thats why clarify butter is better since the little milk as been removed.

Another trick is to but a little oil in the pan, then add butter.

Cooking with awesomesauce makes your kitchen smell sweet though.
