Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut

In my opinion they should have made Juggernaut CGI like they did with the Hulk. There’s just no human on the planet that could do the character justice appearance wise.

They should have used a bodybuilder for the Beast character though. You can’t tell that it’s Kelsey Grammer anyway with all the makeup. Then Grammer could just do the voice over.

Regarding the Omega Red and Psylocke issue you clearly haven’t followed the comics much.

Omega Red is plain scary and has been close to whipping Wolverine’s ass a couple of times.

Psylocke basicly has Jean’s psychic abilities plus she’s trained by the Hand which gives her some nasty ninja skills. Oh, and it looks like they have chosen an asian hottie to play her: Mei Melançon - IMDb

Actually she was never on par with Jean. First she was a telepath and could move through shadows but she had to give her powers to keep the Shadow King held prisoner, then she become a telekinetic.Jean can do both.

Also Calisto is a little more than a dumbass mutant that no one cares about considering how huge of a roll she’s played over the years. Her presence if they use it right opens up a whole new direction for them to go in the movies.
I agree about Calisto.

Am I the only one that think that it’s bad how they screwed up the timeline?

Just to mention a few mess ups…

The original X-men was Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Beast and Angel. In the movies Iceman is just a boy and they are now adding the Beast after the Apocalypse incident.

They added Wolverine in the first movie but he belongs to the second generation with Rogue, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm and Gambit. Rogue is just a child in the movie too.

Basicly it looks like they add the characters based on their popularity but it will end up messy. They already have so many characters that I think they will end up shallow in the films…

Yeah, but you’re talking about the original (616) Marvel Universe.

The movies have adhered more to the Ultimate Universe than the original, and I agree with their decision.

I’ve been reading comics for 20 years and stay the hell away from anything in the X-Universe except for the Ultimate X-Men because I simply don’t have room in my brain for the convoluted continuity that weighs down Uncanny and the other X-books to the point where a newcomer simply can’t read them.

New (?) pic of Juggernaut:

I actually think the Ultimate Universes were created because of the popularity of the Spiderman and X-Men movies. It gave readers a whole new jumping on point. The problem with X-Men was about 1990 they start adding 100000 different books and shit just got crazy.

Here’s a simple comic book equation for you…

Time Traveling = fucked up continuity

There comes a point where they take shit too far. Once you create 50 different universes where people who were dead are still alive and three different versions of the same character, I begin to think someone simply uses too much crystal meth before they start drawing.

I think the problem is no one stays on a book for longer than a few months (or even a year ) look how long Claramont and Burn were on X-Men in the 80s. Then you got someone who comes on for a few months and has to make a splash so he tries something completely fucking retarded and fucks everything up. Thats why i stopped collecting regularly. I collect like I watch TV I wait for the show to come out on DVD and I wait for the comic to come out in a collected edition so I don’t have to sift through 4 filler issues every year. If you a mild collector thats not a big deal but when your collecting 30-50 books monthly it gets crazy.

Back into geekdom…I love Vinnie Jones’s work so having him play Juggernaut seems pretty freakin cool to me. That being said, yes he’s too small, and yes most of the fighters/bb’ers that were brought up were more physically similar to the comic image than Vinnie is. On the other hand what’s the marketability of some of these guys in a crossover endeavour? I think there’s more box office draw to “Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut!” than most of the other guys as he’s more recognizable for the average movie-goer, small market-ish as he may be, than most of the monsters that were listed above.
After going through the thread I’m actually much more exited about the film with a)Juggernaut and b) Vinnie Jones playing Juggernaut than I was before.

I think the average American has no idea who Vinnie Jones is.

I was still mourning the loss of Kelly Hu from the second movie but now all is good in the world…
carry on…

“I think the average American has no idea who Vinnie Jones is”

Perhaps, but would the average American have any idea who the other guys that have been suggested were?

The perfect actor to play Juggernaut from a physical standpoint is Nathan Jones. He’s 6’ 10", 320lbs and build like a brick shit house. He was that huge muscular guy Brad Pitt fought in the beginning of Troy (stabbed him in the neck). He’s also in the latest Tony Jaa film Tom Yum Goon.
That’s a good one. Either him or Magnus Samuelsson WITH additional latex. Otherwise they’d have to make him totally CGI in order to match the comics. Vinnie is brunette, thin and English…you could try for hours and not get it this fucked up. I don’t know what they’re thinking.

Oh shit, check this out. Some stats on the guy from Troy in IMDB:

"Biography for
Nathan Jones (I)

Nickname
Megaman
Colossus
Height
6’ 11?" (2.12 m)
Mini biography

Nathan Jones rose upon the world strongman scene in 1995 and showed promise to become perhaps the top competitor in the world. At 6' 11" and 360 lbs., the giant Australian known as Megaman was an imposing sight and used his great size and strength to place high in the World Musclepower Championships.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck Megaman in a qualifying heat for the 1995 World's Strongest Man Competition when he suffered a spiral fracture in his arm while arm wrestling European Champion and 1998 World's Strongest Man, Magnus Samuelsson of Sweden. Certainly a shame, as Nathan's career was only beginning and looking very bright."

Thought it may be interesting. I know IMDB is usually full of it on the height and weight, but non the less.

Dude is a natural. The sad thing is, 20 years ago Hollywood would have been knocking on his door a little harder.

For everyone’s information Conan the Barbarian did win an Acadamy Award. For all the doubters I pray:

“Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we posted, and why we were flamed. All that matters is that today, one stood for Conan against many. Valor pleases you, so grant me this one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, the HELL with you!”

He’s such a freak. he’s the only thing I remember from that entire damn movie.

Here’s Vinnie looking a little better.

I’ve heard of a simple fracture and a compound fracture, but what is a spiral fracture? Is it anywhere near as bad as it sounds?
harris447 wrote:

Yes, it is that bad. Basically, it is like if I twisted your arm until it snapped. You might see this injury in a football player who gets blindsided and twists as he falls while his foot stays in place.
