Mufasa,
Dunn - 9 relatively healthy years? The only reason he has done well is because he has tj ducket to take it up the middle and pound out the power plays.
Why do the texans need bush? Rather trade away, maybe not 10-20 but somewhere that they can pick up a good O-line player or even a good linebacker (their LB’s are decent but not great). They have a strong secondary with coleman, robinson and donahue. If they could get 1-2 maybe 3 good O-line men, develop Miller (TE) so Carr has an outlet and maybe pick up a speed rusher at LE/RE they would have a good chance of going 8-8 next year. Does it hurt to draft bush? No. Would they probably get a better value later in the draft that meets their needs better? Yes. And that my friends is what it is all about.
Look at San Diego. They picked Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning. Hell that kind of shit happens. Look at the older dudes that step up ie: Santana Moss, etc. It is the NFL. The GM’s make big money to make the big money decisions.

Good point.
No question that wherever Bush goes, there will need to be a tj Duckett, or a “Bus” on the team.
I forgot to mention it; Tennessee has the third pick in the Draft.

There have been a lot of extrememly good backs come out of college, only to flop when they had to play at a much higher level in the pros. I’m not saying Bush can’t make it, I just think the odds are against him. But I have been wrong once or twice before.
I’m betting Young is a Titan.
What do you think Little Vick coming out will do to the draft picture? My opinion is that he is dmamged goods and will be drafted in the 2-4 round range.

The Titans seem like a natural fit for Young. They already have an offense built around a big, tall, mobile QB. I think Young would do well to learn for a year or two before getting thrown in thr fire - which I think has a lot to do with N.O.'s troubles with Brooks.

Brooks did not get thrown into the fire. He sat and watched Brett Favre in Green Bay for a couple of years before he was traded to the Saints.

Neither one gets drafted first if Houston keeps the #1 pick. Plain and simple.
The saints will probably pick up Leinert at #2, look at all the trouble a mobile qb gave them and what they had to put up with, what with Aaron Brooks.
Hell it would be cool to see the packers trade and get #1 or #2 and get Vince Young. That would be sweet action. Hell it is about the best shot they have at getting someone that might actually be good.
Houston will probably trade the pick away for a 10-20 pick depending on the quality of defensive players at that spot in the draft.

Pack’s planning on Aaron Rodgers (last year’s number one) being their QB of the future I think.

Good question about Vick.
No question; his problems cost him money in the end.
Pro quarterback? To me doubtful. More like a return man or something?
Scouts and GMs do what we do for fun as their job. You can believe that they are looking VERY closely at the pluses and minuses of Vick.
Also; I agree that more and more “talk” seems to have Vince as a Titan. But lest we forget; there is a LOT of behing-the-scences “wheeling and dealing” in the NFL!

Here is my view.
I wish the fucking draft was the day after the Super Bowl because three months of head scratching, hype, and speculation is enough to make a fan crazy.
I want to see the Titans get Lienart. Norm Chow was his coach at SC and with the uncertainty of Fischer being there next season leaves me wondering what they can actually accomplish without any reliability. Chow/Lienart would offer that I believe.
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Titan football. They have played some of the hardest, awe inspiring football as a team in the last 10 years and I’d like to see them get back to that kind of play.

I really have to question Lienart’s mental toughness if put in a starting role his rookie season. As long as he’s winning, everything is peachy. What happens when he is taking snaps behind a questionable O-line? Or if he faces a tenacious run defense with shut down corners ala Carolina?
I just don’t think he’s mature enough to handle the speed and intensity of an NFL game yet. That is not to say he won’t make a good one - my god he’s a blue-print of the perfect drop back passer - I’d just hate to see him get tossed in the fire his rookie year
My guess is Oakland will try for one of these guys…Kerry Collins is horrible, and they don’t have a viable option for a backup.
Choosing Leinart would be a terrible mistake. He needs to gain about 20-25 lbs on his frame and I don’t think he has the discipline to do it. Yes even with all the money thrown at him, I still don’t think so.
He’ll sit on his first year contract and never really go anywhere in the NFL. Back-up QB.

It looks like Vince Young has made the decision to go to the NFL.
…
(Note: Houston and the 49’s seem out, due to young quarterbacks they are trying to groom; but remember that Vince could be a GREAT bargaining tool for trades of picks, etc.)
[/quote]
I don’t think you can count out Houston actually.
If they take Young, they can trade Carr, who was also a #1 pick and has a huge contract – that saves them cap room. They might prefer Young to Carr as a crowd-drawing player, because Young not only went to UT Austin, but grew up in Houston.
If Houston took Bush, they would need to keep both his fat contract and Carr’s fat contract. Plus they do have a decent running back already, in Dominick Davis. So they could get Young, trade Carr, and load up on their weak points - notably both lines - with the traded picks (and actually have money to sign them).
Just a little speculation…

I would love to see Oakland trade up for Leinart – but hopefully they would sit him for a year and let him learn, a la Carson Palmer and Jon Kitna. I think young QBs need a year to adjust and learn their systems - and it doesn’t help to just toss them to the wolves. I think a lot of young QBs with all the tools end up getting their confidence shattered by getting tossed out to play with crappy teams and no protection.
I would love that too, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be gone by the 6th pick, so a trade up is almost mandatory. But it also will depend a lot on who they hire as head coach. My guess is if they get him, they’ll throw him right into the fire and he’ll end up hurt or a total head case…aka Jon Kitna.
