I love swords, I’m so jealous!!! And they need to make that Strong(her) shirt in men sizes.
I want, I want.
uh, that’s kinda scary???
Explanation: fencing was my sport in college, always wanted to do the samurai (kendo) thing but never got around to it. And I work out in a commercial gym where a 4 plate deadlift is scary strong, and I have yet to see a 3 plate squat to depth, so I would love to do it (can’t do the squat yet) in a strong(her) shirt, for the irony! Hopefully no longer so scary…
Kairiki - Thanks, yep on to the big April meet now
Punnyguy - ok, I’ll try to see if you can get in Hot Pink too!
Brute - anytime for you <3
Up - Thanks, we were definitely thinking of Joe when we took those pictures…lol
Snap - You of all people know I’ve had a really good rehab, but I still have to get that shoulder used to heavier weights. Hoping the shirted bench will go a bit better in April with some shoulder support from the shirt. My bicep doesn’t hurt, but the shoulder aches, the pec muscles close to the shoulder strain also. Sometimes I wonder if I should do some bb flyes with some light dbs to stretch and build up those muscles too…
Git - thank you good sir
DF - yes, the premeet Surf and Turf is the way to go
DE Lower / 2-27 (commercial gym)

225 x 2 x 3 sets
245 x 2 x 4 sets
255 x 2 x 2 sets
275 x 2 for the benefit of the high school boy that told his mom “she can’t get that”
Then his mom promptly said, oh yea she can…and then told me I have donkey legs - Strong. I never heard that one before…
Oh, I was hanging off the j hook to get in my suit and a guy came over to “help” me, he thought I was stuck…lol
What depth do you set the box at, I’ve been setting it about an 1-2 inches below depth because thats were teh box just sits but I could play around a bit with it if there is a more optimal depth.
my box is probably just right at parallel, on speed days I was taught even if I had to raise it an inch above parallel it’s ok, the goal was speed, just be fast (though on these I wasn’t as fast, was missing my bands)
Max effort, I normally go just below parallel.
I think speed days takes a bigger toll on my hip flexors than max effort day for some reason.

I saw a lot of the dipping technique at worlds. At first they looked like really slow squatters but would suddenly drive their asses down really fast. I don’t have an opinion other than it looks cool.
I’ll be interested to see how it works for you.
I like how the high school boy said you couldn’t get 275. Silly boy.

What does the dipping do? For Ouroboro or Lil Power
To Lil Power: I get so used to seeing you lifting such heavy weight that I forget that you’re also fun sized.
Really liked the bench vid. I like to watch other lifters set up techniques.

Dipping - slow down, tighten up, then drop in and take advantage of the rebound and drive the weight up.
