LOL at another thread where the older generation comes in with their infinite fucking knowledge. God today’s youth is just so lost.

What’s funny is I have been playing videogames for 22 years now. I recently graduated with my Bachelor’s, am going back to school for my Masters’ and am doing pretty well for myself.

So I guess videogames aren’t all that bad.

Fucking generalizations are a bitch. Did you guys know all weight lifters have small dicks too?
Hey, hey, hey I am one of those old guys and did you read my post?

You started playing in the womb?
I’m not even sure who he was directing that at. I play video games more than I ever watch tv. Most of the guys I know under 40 play video games.
Lol, I definitely need to thoroughly read responses before I get so pissed… been working on that. It wasn’t directed at either of you, but someone else above who I just flat-out misinterpreted.

And no Derek, not in the womb, but pretty darn close. :)
But…any guys raised in the 80’s was too…and was into the original shit before the mega mass marketing.

That is why anyone acting like this is some generational gap may have missed that Gen-X and the generation right before will be the first old people in retirement homes listening to rap and playing video games with head sets.

The average 30 year old probably relates more with youth than ever before.

Yep.

Hell I remember when I was a teen how old fuckers who grew up on Radio were blaming TV and rock music causing brain damage.

I wonder what I get to bitch about when I get 70.

It BETTER BE FLYING FUCKING CARS.

another kid comes along and thinks that he’s got life by the shorthairs, and discounts all the experience and knowledge that the older gen is able to impart.

video games are sucking the life out of this generation - I’ve seen it happen with my kids and nephews and nieces.

whatever.

and that average 30 year old listens to all the shit they spew on the news channels, and believes every word of it -

So you’re kids and nephews are indicative of the entire population of gamers worldwide? That’s odd, there’s two guys who I would consider to be aged and wise above saying the opposite.

Maybe it’s a parenting issue, then.

I actually do agree with that…even though when Arkham Asylum comes out, you can bet my weekend will be spent in Gotham for a few weeks…but I don’t turn into some World of War Craft drone and waste 3 straight days on it.

Most of the kids I treat who are overweight all answer the following questions the same:
“Do you play outside much?”

“Nope”

“do you play video games?”

“Yep”

Thats bad parenting and again heard the same thing when I was a kid about TV.

No doubt. I remember when “Natural Born Killers” caused so much controversy.

Before that, they blamed rap…then movies…then videogames.

Right, but you do have more insight and experience than a 23-year old does, is what I’m saying. Bringing the whole age thing up was my fault to begin with, so I wish I could redact that altogether.

Fact: Anyone claiming the bullshit that Edgy is is full of shit, and is doing nothing more than spouting off an ignorant opinion. A lazy person is going to be a lazy person regardless of whether they have videogames or not, and someone who is motivated is going to get their shit done regardless of what distractions are ahead of them. If someone’s kids’ are having the “soul sucked out of them” by videogames, why are they still allowed to play videogames?

I’ve known hundreds of videogame players. Many of them were lazy and unmotivated. Many were educated, had careers and were parents, etc. It’s just a total bullshit generalization. You can NOT lope a segment population into a hobby. There is a stereotype, and that is fine, but more people play videogames today than ever before. The shit is MAINSTREAM.

Again, I use any stereotypical lifting remark as a rebuttal. The fact that saying something like “video games are sucking the life out of this generation - I’ve seen it happen with my kids and nephews and nieces” is purely anecdotal and opinion-based means it is complete bullshit. There are actually many studies I’ve read in the past (they had a lot in EGM magazines) suggesting that videogames are much more conducive than a lot of things, especially television. The brain is active and constantly processing stimuli when playing.

I can’t believe I’m even having this conversation, to be honest.
SSC wrote:

Insult me all you want, but I’ll bet that you spend hours in front of a TV with video games instead of anything productive.

and yeah, that is indicative of all gamers - I didn’t say that my kids, nieces and nephews were poor performers in anything academic, but video games have stolen something from their lives.

I don’t expect you to believe me or understand, cause you have such a limited exposure to all things in this life, and cant comment on something that you cant understand.

Why cant we have both boobs and video games?

I have both at home?

But when Jlo says its time for sexy time. PS3 is turned off and I run.

When you look at the majority that do play videogames, then you see laziness, immaturity, and lack of manliness. They stick out so much that they cover those who arent like that. Like rap, ask an old timer to describe someone who listens to rap and you would get a guy who looks totally differnt than me but I will listen to it every now and then. The majority sterotypes even the minority.

SSC, your brain has obviously been damaged. Who in their right mind would put that God awful head onto Clay Mathews body? lol

You’re absolutely right, much the same as you are spending your time in front of a computer doing nothing productive as well.

I figure someone who is older wouldn’t see the world in black-and-white, but then again I must know nothing of the world, nothing at all. If being young and dumb is not seeing the world as absolutes, I’m okay with that.

But you’re totally on point, I’ll go back to my shallow existence of videogames, hot-pockets, not going to school and living in my parents’ basement. Good debate.
