Keg clean and press:
135x5x1 one motions
135x3x1 cleans to shoulder
Noticeable lack of pop on the keg today. Doing them after squats definitely ups the challenge a bit. Think I may have figured out a good technique for securing the clean to the shoulder, going to practice that more this weekend. The rain has been relentless the past couple weeks, but somehow I’ve managed to get all my keg workouts in with nothing more than a very light mist.

Abbreviated workout today, Sundays aren’t a great lifting day for me but had to squeeze this in. Keg cleans were super crisp but kept the volume pretty low since my shoulder didn’t seem happy I went at them ice cold. Belt was squeezing my breakfast out of me so I couldn’t get a good brace in on the deads, became very apparent on the top set of car deads.
I’m enjoying this workout, feeling like I should keep a variation of this for a few training cycles. Will have to decide in a couple weeks after the comp.
Did the keg first today, such a noticeable difference when doing it before or after squats. Hit that double and it was pretty confidence inspiring. Think I’m going to shoot for some doubles and triples this weekend to wrap up the keg training before comp. If I can hit 3 or 4 total reps the day of the comp I’ll be pleased.
I love this feeling. You finish a workout and are like “yep, that did everything I intended it to”…too bad I typically forget what I did and then I completely change directions…
That’s what the log is for man! But yeah, I’m prone to change things up before I should too, funny how being more consistent with certain aspects of training has led to better progress recently.
Agreed. They’re a pretty cool spectacle I think, but actually doing it isn’t all that great.
I’m going to do some conditioning style workouts this week to prep for my next training block. I’m going on a pretty big hike the first weekend of June, so I think I’ll take the next 2.5 weeks to get into shape since I’ve been slacking so hard on conditioning work.
