I’ve noticed when I opt to do my Friday evening session on Saturday mornings that my strength is better, but my conditioning is gone. I was looking for breath after warming up with the bar, but once I got to my heavier sets they moved really well.

You’re obviously warming up too hard :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m sensing a little job change coming down the road for me. The company I work for had made it pretty clear that its intended growth plan doesn’t include many of the folks in my department.

@Frank_C do you have any colleagues that have made the switch from the “professional” world to policing? I’ve been in sales and logistics for all of my post college life, but when I was a kid I always imagined myself being a cop when I grew up, even started college with a Criminal Justice major. The thought crosses my mind pretty regularly, and I just stumbled across a posting my city put up for officers so it’s pretty fresh.

Any things you might advise thinking over before considering going down that path?

If they allow it then do some ride alongs on different shifts to get an up-close view of the job.

I work with people from a variety of backgrounds. After college I worked as a strength coach and then fumbled my way into a job in the aircraft field. I worked for a company that tested and certified the equipment and tools used to manufacture aircraft parts. My particular job consisted of testing ovens. Yes, ovens. They have gigantic ovens that they use to heat different materials for different effects. I made sure they heated evenly and stayed within a certain tolerating the set point.

Does that sound like it’s even close to law enforcement?

You’re ahead of me with that CJ education.

Gather information about the actual job and if you want it then go for it.

Haha nah, not close at all.

Ride along is a good idea, I have a friend in the force the next town over that might be able to swing that.

Biggest thing I’m curious about is the culture shock. Going from office to office and company to company, once you get to know your coworkers and the general vibe, seems most places are more similar than different. Never had any experiences in the Public sector though.

I’d say it’s no different. You bond with your coworkers because you experience similar things. I must admit that your commonalities will be a bit more morbid if you cross into police work though.

Nice session. Got the good mornings back into the mix today. Haven’t had a difficult top set on deads in this program yet, starting the anchor next week and I think I’m going to hit some jokers rather than + sets.

These workouts look great

It’s been a pretty solid last few weeks. I think I found a good formula for when the schedule is tight.

Good workout, didn’t feel too great coming into it. Stressful day, need to give my entire staff 10 days notice that they don’t have jobs anymore. Company is outsourcing their gigs moving forward and sprang it on me, so that’s been weighing on me today.

Wow, 10 days notice? Did the company plan this for awhile and just didn’t want to warn anyone or is it incredibly impulsive and decided to do this in like a day?

Seems like that type of decision would take awhile to propose, research, and commit.

I think a little bit of both. It was a plan that was thought out, and then the decision was quick and somewhat rash. I think it could’ve been handled much more effectively.

I know policing is different from my country to yours.
When I started almost everybody came from another work. Carpenters, office workers, Electricians, even pedagogue, I was a sailor before.
I wouldn’t change my job for another. BUT I think it’s a lot harder in the states than here.
So go for it  You won’t get better coworkers anywhere
On another note 1000% Awesome looks good, it was on my bucket list, when I was only doing Wendler stuff.

Damn that is hard! Also illegal where I live but that is different from country to country it seems.

Thanks for the info!

1000% is great, solid summer time routine when time is limited.

Yeah it was rough, they handled it well though. It’s different state by state here too, but I’m sure there’s plenty of legal fine print that makes it tough for the every-person to navigate.

Hey there, it’s been a while since I looked into your log. Great work! What are your lifts at now?

Thanks man! Tbh I haven’t tested anything since like March, so I’m not sure where they stand currently. I’ll have an idea during the anchor cycle when I hit some jokers, but I’m pretty sure I have some solid PRs in me right now.

Good to hear man. Same over here! Except for squat. Squat is fucking killing me.
