I’ve recently enrolled in a plant nutrition certificate course by Cornell and Colin Campbell the author of the China Study. Unsurprisingly they pushed vegetarianism quite hard. I was skeptical of the claims, especially on how the diet would be applicable for a powerlifting or any athlete with a demanding sport.
I came across this interview with Tony Gonzalez (NFL tight-end) who uses a mostly vegetarian diet (he does consume fish).
So in a nutshell, I’m giving this a go in 1-2 week. Anyone have any ideas on how to prepare a tasty and easy vegetarian meals? I will be eating fish and supplementing with hemp protein.
You can find millions of recipes online through google search. Seriously, it’s crazy how many are out there. Just type in a couple key words like “black beans” and you’re good to go.
Why hemp protein? Are you trying a vegetarian or a vegan diet? If the former, whey and casein protein are fine for vegetarians.
Anywho, when I was a vegetarian for a spell, I liked having a serving of veggies with 1/2 cup beans and a tin of sardines. Not too bad from a taste perspective (If you like all the ingredients) and the macros fill out nicely for a higher carb meal.
And eggs are still vegetarian, go wild with the omelettes
(As for eating fish, the classification of that is ‘pescetarian’, which I would not call a vegetarian diet, as fish have feelings and are more like chickens than brocolli)
