Vegetable Fasting

I did this once in a way, but a lazy way…I drank V8 cut with some water and an apple blended in for breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner.

Shit…that sensible dinner part made this post sound like a Slim-Fast ad.

This client ran it for over 3 weeks - ish? Way too long on just juicing. If you watch the documentary you will notice the same things in people. Muscle fatigue, tiredness, hormone diregulation, stall in fat loss etc. [/quote]

Is this in reference to my posts?

If yes: What are you talking about? What are you drawing your conclusions from?

If no: Please disregard.

I’ll probably drink the veggie juice 4x a day, but I’ll throw in some Metamucil here and there for the fiber. I’m thinking of doing the fast on a non-training day (Sunday), since I generally have a huge cheat meal Saturday nights (beer + pizza).

With all those veggies you’re getting plenty of fiber. If you add anything you might have negative effects.

Hmmmm, interesting.

I have no experience with juicing. What do you use to juice? I ask this as I know that alot of fruit juicers filter out all of the pulp and you miss out on all of the goodness.

I would be interested in trying this one day fast myself. I suppose doing it on a rest day makes sense?

I have nothing to add.

When you juice vegetables the fiber is taken out… the only con of juicing.

My juicer is called The Juiceman Jr, lol. It looks old as fuck but it works.

You don’t have to do a full, one-day fast. If you do, I wouldn’t workout that day, so yeah, rest day. If you do want to do lift that day you can do a ‘Veggie Pulse Feast’, lol, where you do an intermittent-type fast where you have veggie juice up until your workout, take your peri-workout supps, and then feast afterwards.

Hey Andy i read through Chad’s protocol. I’m going to order some mila or pick up some 50% soluble 50% insoluble fiber supp and do a 2 day juice fast next week. I’ve had a lot of GI problems from infectious ulcerative colitis, been almost a year and still trying to recover. I intermittent fast (lean gains) now but i sense my gut would enjoy 48 hours off.

What do you think of vegetable juice fast + peptopro or MAG-10 pulses every 4 hours? This way i could do the fast every other week, or more often without muscle loss.

Waterbury is referencing the Warrior Diet here. I have been following a similar protocol for more than 4 months. I have not been juicing as regularly lately (damn thing went broke!) but I think it is a valuable tool, especially for fat loss or folks who are a bit too busy throughout the day. I found it a great way to consume high amounts of ginger, which appears to have multiple health benefits. I would whip up a simple juice of:

2-4 carrots
1 apple
huge chunk of ginger

Sometimes I would add cinnamon, or even supplement powders vitamin c and d-aspartic acid. The juice totally masks the taste of the latter. The added insulin sensitivity meant when ever I consumed one of these later in the afternoons I would experience an insulin buzz usually synonymous with ingesting sugar. Going to invest in a better juicer once finances are better.
