Vegas Shooter Kills 50+

That’s never going to happen in the United States of America.

Curious, what bastion of freedom are you from?

Go ahead and restrict the guns. The effectiveness of any kind of legislation in that regard has sailed. Voluntary registration of existing firearms is at about 4% in areas where those laws have been enacted. 500+ million of those firearms are already out the gate. It’ll be a century or more before that supply dwindles in any kind of meaningful way.

As for the “18 school shootings” claim… https://www.facebook.com/newsbusters/videos/1792895810733459/

There haven’t been 19 school shootings this year? Those of us with kids can all rest easy now.

Damn those gays for wanting to get married to someone they love but don’t you dare touch my guns.

Only it isn’t like every other population and culture. How many mass shootings in France have been committed by someone with no connection to the ME?

I’m fine with both gay weddings & guns myself, though I think this moves to interesting point. The bible seems pretty heavy on condoning violence (at least the old testament), but sexuality, especially non traditional sexuality, is chastised.

When people argue about how many school shootings have actually happened rather than accept the idea that one is intolerable that will happen.

I wasn’t pointing a finger at you but going with your point about morality, violence and love.

What?

I have no idea. I don’t study the crime statics of every country.

Yes, we have had a number of instances were, mostly young white guys, have shot up a location and then offed themselves. The reasons for this are generally nothing like the reason folks in the Middle East do it.

I wouldn’t consider the number of these types of incidents in the US constitutes “significant numbers”.

There are 140k schools. Even if we use the 18 number, which is inaccurate, that means .01286% of schools have “mass-shootings” a year.

It’s tragic, but it doesn’t occur in “significant numbers”. Note, that doesn’t mean I think we should throw out hands up and accept it as the norm.

You can not stop evil from prevailing 100% of the time and legislating from that perspective is dangerous.

Tell the parents of all of the kids who have been killed that school shootings happen in insignificant numbers.

When people start saying the number of shootings is not significant then any measures are not only pointless but moot.

Have you even been to Israel? In my personal opinion, most of the Israeli solutions are simply not applicable in the US for a myriad of reasons - size of the country, number of people as well as the fact that in Israel there is a society-wide consensus that the ever present major terrorist threat requires constant vigilance and not only major sacrifices but inconveniences as well that are frankly a royal pain in the ass.

You think TSA is bad? Try boarding a plane at Ben Gurion airport.

Gun culture and how they’re treated as a fetish supposedly symbolizing “freedom”.

The percentages of gun owning households in many European countries are on par or even surpass the US but the difference is in the number of guns per gun owner.

Like I said before here, I’m a gun owner and pretty much all my friends own guns but we treat them as tools. That means we don’t discuss them, nor fantasize about buying scopes for Christmas, making our own shotgun ammo and other stuff that’s so mystifying to non-Americans.

Yes, Israeli airport security makes TSA look like a fun time.

I’ve lived overseas and was around guns. Saw people walking around with guns. There were no school or mass shootings. There was some good old fashioned mafia killing but that’s another matter.

It all ready is and has been rock bottom nothing will change here. The rest of the world sighs as we do the same shit every few weeks. Not really sure what else we can shoot up to hit a worse bottom… Concerts, schools, bars, shopping centers, office space, I might have missed some spots… Id say give up hope of any real change here for 25-50 yrs

Of course it’s significant to the parents, but thank you for the reminder that these conversations are pointless.

Brilliant !!

It’s pointless if it is only significant to the families. And I know it is significant to you because you aren’t a monster.
