I think the question was whether attackers would just utilize bombs rather than rifles…
This, but thanks for the cookie cutter libertarian talking point anyway I guess.
I should know better tbh
I know. That’s the question I answered. They’d use bombs now, if they could. If @pfury believes resistance is futile, then he should just say that instead of participating in a discussion about possible solutions.
Except they can. They’re stupidly easy to make, especially in the age of the internet.
Ftr, I’m not talking about them building a dirty bomb in their basement, I’m talking about a natural escalation and the cost of the damage from said escalation compared to the benefit of allowing guns into elementary schools and courthouses.
Lol thanks for reminding me why the libertarian party is never going to be of substance. Have a good one
That’s pretty much what Israel does with their schools. The Palestinians knew that schools were soft targets, now they aren’t. Israel also refuses to publicize the offender’s faces when they do carry stuff out. There’s almost a media black out about their attackers.
On top of armed guards at every public school (and lockdown procedures), metal detectors. Every student and staff member goes through every day.
We use guns to protect our money, not our children.
Quote from the shooter:
‘I wanna die killing shit ton of people’
Legislation doesn’t stop that.
I’ll be honest with you: I have no idea what you’re talking about. A natural escalation beyond the slaying of unarmed innocents?
Sall good. I’m out of lessons to learn today. Have a good weekend
I’m not asking you directly but why is it the two places on Earth that produce people like that in significant numbers are the ME and the USA? There is something wrong with Americans.
You mean people that want to die while killing people? I don’t agree that the US produces people like that in significant numbers. Certainly not comparable to the Middle East.
I think the added sections in bold make the statement accurate.
Why do you think it’s stupidly easy to make a bomb? I’m really curious…Have you ever made one? Do you know what goes into making one? Do you know people who have made them? At least the type of bombs than can cause as much destruction as this recent slaughter…
the Tsarneavs made pressure cooker bombs that killed 4 (?) people and wounded dozens. One of them was an engineering student, the other went to the foothills in Russia to learn how to make them (Dagastan). Why would they go through all the trouble if it was “stupidly easy” to make? They both have access to quality internetz…
I really think you’re underestimating how difficult it actually is to make what would need to be an effective bomb and plan out exactly the optimal time it would need to be to inflict the maximum amount of carnage. You have to be methodically insane to do this - it’s a different kind of evil than shooting up a school (not trying to degrade what this monster did - it’s a different equally evil mindset).
Is it the 19th school shooting this year? As in 19 school shootings in 6 weeks?!
Of course there are mass shootings all the time in America. You guys have ridiculous access to firearms.
I’m surprised there isn’t a school shooting twice per day!
It’s not rocket science. I think it’s called common sense… although good sense doesn’t seem that common these days.
When enough people have died, the public will be willing to tell the lobbyists to f*ck off & guns will be severely restricted.
No amount of persuasive words are going to achieve that - America needs a rock bottom with guns - before America wakes up.
Until then, mass killings will be a regular part of American life.
Because YouTube/etc exist that can get you a bomb from ingredients out of your local Walmart.
Sure. On a very small scale for lawls with some other idiots. Not in a “I wanna blow up a school” scale (although tbh we didn’t feel the need to risk being on an FBI watch list for extra lawls).
I’m not though. I’m just not underestimating the natural escalation, especially given how easy you can obtain the materials needed to do “some” damage.
Most public shooters fully intend on dying at the end of their assault. I have no idea why it would take an escalated level of evil to go from shooting up a school to any form escalated from there. Most of these people want the infamy and/or attention. Both methods achieve this do they not?
I’m also not saying I’m guaranteeing putting guns in school will turn people into bombers, merely that it should definitely be a concern when weighing the pros/cons.
Stellar idea. Investing in modern school security needs to become a top priority in this country. We need to stop making schools into soft targets.
The US has a very weird relationship with morality & violence. A recent example I noticed when watching an episode of the Punisher on Netflix (good show btw). I watched in pretty relistic detail a guy’s dome get blown off by a sniper round, but they did everything they could to keep the audience from seeing a woman’s breast in the shot. We love violence, but anything oriented around love, sexuality, etc is so weirdly taboo.
We’re conditioned to be desensitized to violence, but close our eyes when presented with love (no talking specifically about the scene in the show here, just making a broader point).
One of my favorite Marvel shows on Netflix. I’m wondering if the non-nudity is related to the characters being Marvel’s property? Just a thought.
I’ve started watching Altered Carbon another Netflix original that’s pretty violent. Probably as violent as teh Punisher, but there’s a quite a bit of nudity (that police lieutenant muy caliente). Even saw male nudity, which is unusual.
I do agree, though, we do act all weird about nudity and profanity, but violence is everywhere.
*Can’t type for shit today.
How are you liking it? I watched the pilot and it seems like a cool story line but if the show doesn’t take off the CGI costs will probably kill the show. I still miss that Terra Nova show
yeah I bet so - & I think that circles back a bit, that violence is cool & approved for all audiences, but love/sex is not. Like it’s cool if kids harm each other, as long as they aren’t getting pregnant out of wedlock.
I’m pretty excited to watch this show. We’re wrapping up “Dark” right now. Which, if you decide to watch it I’d recommend the subtitled version, the dub is kind of cheesy.
You might be on to something. With the complications of making pipe bombs being what they are, this “I want to kill everybody” thing could solve itself quite handily.
“Did you hear Jimmy blew himself to bits?!?”
“Yeah. Creepy fucker. He’s been talking about blowing up the school for months.”.
Bonus points if they’re eating a tide pod while they do it.
I’m really digging it actually. I’ve heard some people thought it was slow the first couple of episodes, I didn’t find that to be the case, but everyone’s a critic ya know.
The entire concept of the “sleeves” and living forever because of the tech is pretty crazy.
