Saw another story about a Marine who saved some people. Don’t know if it’s the same guy or what but when asked why didn’t he just run, he said I was just doing what I do best.

Absolutely gets me every time. The first time I came to this thread I was wondering if it had come out that the Vegas shooter was a vegan.

The evidence so far indicates this is true. The why is still elusive and the most important question. Until we know why this guy committed a horrific terrorist attack, we don’t know anything.
We don’t even know whether or not it was a “terrorist” attack yet, there needs to be an alterior motive driving the violence itself for it to be an act of terrorism.
I’ve come to expect Fake News…especially after events like this…
What frustrates me is the number of people who accept this “news” as fact…and will ague to their deaths that what they read was true.

This was an act of terror. The goal was to murder and terrorize a city and nation. It may not be the standard narrative we expect from terrorists as in Islamic terrorists, but it was an act of terror.
Any mass murder is an act of terror by definition. We need this dickhead’s motive. The act defines whether or not it’s terrorism. The motive will tell us what we need to know.
And we have to chill the fuck out. I am as anxious as anyone to discover the motive.
All talk of legislation and action is premature until we know why he did this. We cannot prevent mass killings with out information. We need to act on facts not emotion.

I too have my own theories. Some are tin foil hat theories, some are more reasonable. So I pledge not to float any, until the facts are out.
Now the gun control nuts are out in force. But until we know why, it’s a useless conversation as if that would have stopped this. The US is a soft target, it’s the price of freedom. If someone wants to kill a lot of people and are determined to do so, they will find a way.
Until we know the facts, we don’t know.
I refuse to watch any of those shows anymore. When I want to be entertained I don’t want to be told what to think or believe. They clearly are not intelligent enough to entertain without prothelyzing their political slant, alienating half the country. Like we should listen to them as if they matter.
I heard a DNC pundit on NPR today saying ‘…congress voted on an abortion bill today, when they should be focusing on saving lives.’
The irony of this incredible stupidity, was not lost on me.

It’s a torture chamber of pure conjecture.
My wife asked me what I think of Trump and all the shit going on. I said that I choose to sit back and watch and judge later when I have some more stuff to judge. Not the micromanaged moves everybody makes.
He’s different. I don’t know yet if that’s good or bad. But if people start talking about things and solving these repressed issues, maybe a stupid tweet or statement wasn’t that bad. What I don’t want to do is fall into group think and follow the heard.
I hate celebrities, pundits, comedians all telling me I should hate someone. That makes me want to do the opposite, but I also don’t want to fall into a trap of giving the president or others a pass for doing the wrong things.
I want to see what happens. We voted for unusual and we got it. And I repeat, we don’t always get the leader we want, but we get the leader we deserve. Considering the collective behavior of americans in the past few years, we did deserve either trump or hillary. It was going to suck either way.
That’s the one stupid question in all of this. You put them in luggage and you take it to your room. Vegas is set up different. The front desks in these hotels are off to the side and there are 50 ways in. He could have dragged 1000 guns up there with out anyone batting an eyelash.
There was probably 50 kilos of coke, collectively between all the guests in that hotel and nobody be the wiser.

You’re confusing a very important distinction that needs to be made. Terrorism requires some sort of agenda, chiefly political that the violence seeks to pursue. Events as terrifying as the may be, in which the violence itself is the end goal do not constitute terrorism. This matters because they each need to be addressed in different manners. Terrorism you may be able to eliminate the source organisation but when dealing with a sadistic psychopath you need to look at the genetic and environmental factors that produce said psychopath.
Case in point.
Is it just me or has there been a ridiculous amount of misinformation on this case being propagated on even mainstream media sources?
I think ultimately all this “Fake News” is our own damn fault, we’ve become so addicted to feeding our own confirmation bias that any headline supporting our narrative becomes click bait…

This really, REALLY needs to be emphasized. The only way to 100% stop terrorist acts is to become the antithesis of what we stand for; we would need to become a security state, totalitarian and controlling. Even then, we couldn’t stop it all, and we would have given up our identity as a nation.
The Ben Franklin quote about security vs freedom was never more true. It’s a false choice
