Vary Calories by Activity Level?

Ok, so I know that the usual response to questions like these is usually “its not an exact science, just do it!” But I personally have found that when you make it an exact science, just like in science…you see the expected results, every time. So I am not looking for any of those types of answers.

My question is this: My daily activity level varies from day to day, and trying to figure out my calories has raised this question.

Should I pick something somewhat relative to my all together fitness level and just say ok, this whole week could be summed up by a heavier activity level, or it is mostly in said range, or should I do it daily? Like Mon and Fri I lift and then go to work for 8hours at a manual labor job. Tues-Thurs I either just lift or just run, no night time activity (cept sittin on my ass in class).

So therefore, Mon and Fri I would up the calories for more activity, and then lower it on the days I don’t do so much.
Just general opinion, which do you think would create the best progress? Sticking with a weekly calorie level no mattter what, or varying it on the days I do more or less activity?

I am def. leaning to varying it every day, but I always like getting different opinions on a matter. Thanks for any input!

I’d vary it. Theres a good article called the carb cycling codex by thibadeau. You basically calculate a basic caloric intake, and from that get your grams of protein, carbs, and fat. Then two days a week you up your carbs, and consequently your calories.

It is like two moderate days from your first calculation, two up days with more carbs/calories, and then three lower carb/calorie days. It seems like a good approach.
