So what do men want for VD? Do they want anything? A card, a gift, candy, what? Sex of course, but speaking materially, what am I supposed to do? I want him to be happy, not A) freaked out because I did something bizarre, or B) wondering “WTF, she’s only liberated when it suits her?” because women expect gifts but don’t reciprocate.
You men are making me a nervous wreck. I wish you’d all come to some sort of consensus about what you want from modern women!
no candy
no dinner out
no red t shirt
no wine
no gift card for Target
no valetines day card
homemade cookies, my favorite kind
homemade dinner, nothing fancy - meat and potatoes
you cooking in nothing more than an apron and high heels and take this one day, this one day only’ to NOT tell me about all your asinine conversations that you had with your relatives, and the time you spent on hold while on the phone to the DMV.

Nice bottle of scotch
What constitutes a nice bottle? What kind?
Edgy, I do cookies for Christmas (along with a shirt or whatever) and the other stuff on the list (meat, heels) pretty regularly.
The last item…awkward…I just had my cousin here and…well, I probably don’t need to talk about it anymore…I guess. :)
FWIW, my bf and I just exchange cards. We discussed it last year and both agreed to not make a big deal out of it. He does get a little something for my daughter, but that’s it. No need to stress about the issue, TALK to him about it. There’s a chance he is stressing about a way to make it special for you as well.
As far as scotch…does he drink scotch? Is he more of a bourbon fan? Does he prefer Irish Whiskey? Is he even a brown liquor type of guy? What is your price range? FYI, for a “decent” bottle, you are looking at about $50…depending on your location, of course.
I’m personally a fan of Talisker and MacCallan for special occasions. If I am just chilling, I might have a Tullymore Dew while the bf likes Jamesons. And my preference of bourbon (while not my first choice) leans towards the “big name” bourbons like Makers or Knob Creek.
